The interview on the Echo site suggests that Danny was just trying out 5 across the back as a potential option for the season and that it allowed him to get minutes into more players that needed them than if he had gone with a different formation. If we take him at his word then I think we will see 4 across the back and, given their lack of pre-season minutes, that O'Connor and Bossie won't be starters at Northampton. For me that leaves Waterfall and Wilson vying for the other centre-half place, Andrade, Freck, McCartan and Akinde definite starters with Anderson and Rhead on the bench. That leaves Pett, Chapman, or Green left to fill the last two slots, depending whether it is 4-4-2 or 4-3-3
 
Personally i havent a clue the starting line up and if everybody is fit next saturday (Apart from Habergham)i would guess the opposition teams dont either or formation. I expect Luque plus 1more in this week at some stage.
We have so many more options this year as Danny has eluded to its great.Im sat here with my dog and cuppa and i am quietly confidant that its going to a very sucessful season again???

Interesting that Northampton fans are doing that thing when discussing their formation:
‘I wouldn’t have thought so - I don’t think Lincoln have got a player under 6ft so we are going to get bombarded and will probably go as big as possible. I’m sure they’ll be already targetting buchs as a weakness at lb in the air.’
Our reputation precedes us., regardless of the personnel or the formation, or the style of football

Just can't wait to get the season started yet again there is a feel good factor around the City. Us fans need to put in our usual twelth man performances as well.

Very difficult to know the best 11 or formation at this point but..

What is great is that all of us have a different starting 11. Quality back ups everywhere except RB.
A few notes;
Do not think we will start the season with a 3 or 5 at the back.
I haven't seen enough of McCarten to say. I don't think Chapman is ready to start. And I would be very surprised to see DC leave out Green. My only concern with the 11 I have named would be are Bossie and Akinde fit?
 
Not seen a single friendly so a totally worthless stab at a starting 11
feel we will revert to 442...this 3 centre backs just a trial..
not looked at opposition weaknesses.

the omissions
as elkimp no start for ellis chapman as intimated by DC.could be a smokescreen. but doubt it.
pett and wilson getting splinters on bench

squad of 20 - 1 keeper always on bench =19
- mccombe ,will not play only in emergency=18
- ellis,will not start Saturday(listen to dc`s comments)=17
-sam habergham, injured and not to be risked=16
conclusion matchday squad picks itself. it`s the 11 starters?
DC still hunting for bodies....depth needed

About Bostwick and his injury during the friendlies, DC mentioned in an interview that if the next game was a League game Bostwick would have been in the team.
So we will see if he plays on Saturday.
 
I would always want Green on from the start to wear down the oppo defence, so:
