Digital. It was possible to do O Level photography at RP back in the very early 80s. My mate JB did it. All dark rooms and mechanical then.Yes, I remember Bonus Prints!
Still old-school or have you gone digital?
Whoops, sorry and thanks for pointing that out! Don't know why I put that given that the photos I have clearly say GC! I will correct the post. Not the GN warehouse... View attachment 47383

One of the old footbridges across the Witham. Contrast that with today's footbridge over the rail line.
I think that was the footbridge provided for railwaymen to get to the engine shed.
I was going to ask if it was still there - I remember it being in place still around 2006, but haven't been around there for a good while.Yes, it was removed a few years ago (about 5 probably), having allegedly been unsafe.

A pretty big building, so probably gives an idea of how large Lincoln's railway marshalling yards were at the time, do you think? The first photo is of what was the enginemens' accommodation block (built in 1954).

An amazing photo and just about covers the area my pictures cover. At Sigiriya Junior's today, so probably won't post any more pics until tomorrow. Here's some of Holmes Yard, then there was the Midland yard and East Yard (between the Odeon and Pelham Bridge)-

A few more of the Brayford area. If you walked down the alleyway shown in the middle of the first picture you came out on a scene like something out of a Dickens novel. I half expected to bump into Fagin, the Artful Dodger and Bill Sykes! I particularly like the mural in pictures 4 and 5, which was created by the Lincolnshire Youth Activity Trust for the Queens Golden Jubilee in 1977. Outdates Banksy by many years and far more colourful! Had to sneak in to an old warehouse due for demolition to get picture 6.

Not sure. I will have a walk down that way next week to take a look.did that wall where the mural was become the retaining wall to a council car park? We used to park there back on the day I am sure it was still there then. years after it was painted.

I think the overriding impression for me is what a dump Lincoln was during that period. Nice to know my memory wasn't playing tricks on me...
