Lincoln City 4-0 Milton Keynes Dons: What 3 Things Did We Learn?

1) Tayo Edun is developing into a fantastic young player. He has quick feet and a ferociously attacking mentality. He has a bright future in football.

2) We miss Tom Hopper. The way we play requires Hopper's ability to hold up, lay off and win free kicks. Morton tries very hard indeed but he isn't really that kind of player.

3) Walsh is a key player. Arguably the best CB we've had in decades. When he plays, the defence settles. A Rolls Royce of a defender.

4) Thinking ahead, we need to consider front options. Realistically, it's unlikely Johnson and Morgan will be here next season. Can we replace them?

1. When you consider what this young squad has experienced this year you can really see what MA is trying to do. They have been through so much with not having crowds, injuries, Covid, etc. All that experience is, and will, stand them in good stead for the run-in and next season and they should be much more experienced players, capable of dealing with almost anything.

2. The difference in approach between the two teams was enormous and, after MA had sorted them out at HT, they really took MKD apart and demonstrated the difference in class.

3. How lucky are we to have MA and the coaching staff who susses out problems and changes the way the team plays, plus young players willing to take on board what he wants. Just hope he can bring in equivalent replacements for Rogers, Johnson and Eyoma next season. One last lesson Johnson needs is a bit of self-discipline when decisions go against him - he needs to sort out a tactic for himself to not react and get absolutely needless bookings.

Cannot do 150 words ! but what was learnt last night was that Johnson and Rodgers can play together in the same team evidenced by the first two goals, maybe they just need more time together to use their pace effectively, for such young blokes, not surprising. Just wonder if Rodgers can extend his loan into next season and continue his learning with almost certain professional game time at SB.
Johnson needs to wind his neck in a bit, count to twenty, or else he will have a few stupid sendings off.
