Leyton Orient bucket collection at WHL tomorrow

Slightly off track, but also on track in a way - the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust are working with Layton Orient to help with a bucket collection outside the stadium for the Bournemouth game tomorrow.

As a club where a lot of players have been blooded while on loan, it would he horrible to see them forced to wind up. They've been royally dicked over by West Ham in the years gone by so if you've got a spare note or two to whack in the bucket, please do.

For those of you not going to the game, they so have a gofundme page which can be found here https://www.gofundme.com/saveorient

Football is a big community and clubs like this are struggling. It ain't the Spam, the Scum or the Chavs, it's little Orient down the road! At times like this fans need to get together and do what they can!

Cheers

I personally think all the PL clubs should have to pay into a fund at the start of the season to help out the lower leagues club if needed - pay wages etc

Its obscene with all the money floating around in football that again us fans are being asked to help ...emotional blackmail which wont make a blind bit of difference. Don't get me wrong I grew up dahn the road from the o's and played early footie on Hackney Marshes in sight of their stadium, so there is an emotional tie.

Its the same with charities in the UK...advertising to death..emotional heart string ads.

We pay enough taxes to enable the govt to help all the causes ...if they wanted to, and to stop wasting money bigtime.

The ordinary hard working a poorer elements of our society seem to be the only ones who give a damn in these ciircumstances, be it as you say a poor little club down the road or homeless people.

Collect due corporation tax and many of the problems of our society can go away!

Get the fat cat football community to put their hands in their pockets to save the likes of the o's...

FFS what a shit society we actually live in, due to the ruling classes

Why do they want buckets ?

If Danielle Lloyd is still sniffing round the changing room we can send them her

If ever there was an example of a business that the new owners never understood, refused to fund properly and financial mismanagement has pushed to the point of collapse this is it.

The one good thing to come out of this mess is the coming together of the supporters and their fund raising efforts, see:

http://www.leytonorientfanstrust.com/index.asp

Once again, given the 'history' of it's owners you have to wonder how they ever passed the 'fit and proper persons' test..

If I was them I'd go to Levy and structure an agreement to become part of Spurs development program that included off pitch staff development and let Spurs dictate the culture and philosophy.

Then I'd market great football at an affordable price.

This was actually something I wrote an FP article about a long time ago when there was talk about trying to integrate youth sides into the football league. My argument was that rather than that, top clubs form close affiliations with lower league clubs and loan them players for experience. When the option comes for the top club to keep it release, the lower club is given first refusal so therefore has a revenue neutral transfer spend and endless supply of potential players coming from well established academies.

I wish we'd do this with Orient. It makes sense and would keep clubs like this in business

It's better to have 'b' club - which would require FA rule changes, as of now a FL club can loan as many as it like's but can only play 4....

So unless the FA rules change, it wouldn't work.

Buying/ half owning a club like Leyton Orient and making it a nursery club would be a great idea, but then the PL will get shirty about the academy PL teams etc...

Doesnt that open a massive gray area....

Orient (spurs B) need a win to go up - we send them Kane/Alli/Dier/Hugo on loan.

LOL!

I suspect we wouldn't risk that, and from memory there are some rules in Spain that prevents current first team squad members being loaned to their 'B" side..

at the very least you think Kane and some other players that have benefited from loan spells there might throw half a weeks wages each at an effort to stop them going under.

There is a way to do everything. A reserves league and allowing a reserve team to operate as a separate business unit is not untenable if you cap the age and set up various other guidelines.

Why the FA wouldnt want more UK based players in a development stream is beyond me.

Barry Hearn with all his business powers could not turn a profit there. It was the only loss making arm of his empire.

He still owns the ground. I wonder what it's worth as development land ?

He sold the club for 4 mil. It goes bust and becomes defunct. He can sell the ground for redevelopment. He was trying to share with West Ham . I wonder what plans he had for the ground then ?

Extreme i know...

They can have Sissoko....

Point is that if it was a B side - it would benefit being in a higher league.

If we took them under our wing, would it be like the relationship between us and Real Madrid?

Also, Joe Lewis would only be interested if there was real estate to rape for a huge profit.

That's what caught my attention most 'EX', that the nice thing was that fellow local supporters were helping each other out. Orient has been around as far as I can remember. It's sad to see a club disappear, even other clubs are part of our heritage. 'Not sure how I'd feel about the scousers going to the wall mind you, let's not take this thing too far!
