Let the Phoney War begin

After Twatan has left the rags for his final payday bin the States, his agent Mino Raiola, has launched a(nother) rant against Pep Guardiola labelling him a “coward” and a “dog”.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/super-agent-mino-raiola-launches-12246000

Raiola’s beef with City’s coach goes back a long way to when his client l out with Pep during their time together at Barca. It seems that Twatan is one to bear a grudge and may well be behind this outburst but there may be other moves afoot.

Twatan’s departure from the rags is bound to come up at Maureen’s press conference this week and this outburst from the guy’s agent I said bound to get raised. To my mind this is the opening salvo from Maureen in preparation for the derby - Raiola is still invested in the rags given his links to Pogba and Lukaku and so retains a vested interest in thier success at that Club. Maureen will want to ‘up the ante’ and use every possible angle to his advantage in the run up to the derby in two weeks time.

IMO the first shot has been fired in one of his usual Phoney Wars. :058:

My point is that, irrespective of the source, the door has been opened for hacks to now use this “outburst” coupled with Twatan’s departure from the Old Toilet.

They have been presented with something to ask Maureen about at hi s press conference and ........away he will go with his attempted ‘mind games’ sh*t.....

To balance this out a bit there is a huge article in todays Sunday Times asking whether this City team is the best PL side ever. The jury seemed to think we are only very slightly behind the rag side of 98/99 but that this could easily change once we win something(s). I know it is an impossible argument - how would we have fared against the great (pre PL) Liverpool sides from the 70's and 80's but it is good that even a Murdoch rag is asking the question.

It seems a bit early for an opening salvo in the pre derby print skirmishes, thought they would have got the Italy game out of the way first since there is always the chance In-ger-lund will mess things up.

The ‘greatest Premier League team ever’ debate seems an impossible conundrum to solve - cross comparing across football generations is tremendously difficult but nice to know we are up there at the top of that tree.

I know it seems early but IMO Maureen is so at behind in terms of points and how his team’s football is regarded that I think he wants to fire the starting gun sooner than usual & this moment gives him a chance to start the discussion on his terms. He may well try framing this once again into a ‘battle between the coaches’ to focus attention away from a) How far behind his team are in the league, b) how they have been dumped out of the CL & c) the paucity of their style of play.

Just seems a bit of a suspicious time for this slimeball of anagent to launch this invective. Why now?

“Coward” and “dog” seems like a nice sort of chap.
Pep will be really “ worried” now.

On a slightly different tack, on the Sky website they are running two City "stories", both along negative lines. One is regarding Stones and his "difficulties" and the other about Sergio reiterating his desire to "leave City" at the end of his contract in 2020.
Contrast these two pieces to their Liverpool one which is about Klopp declaring they can rule Europe.
Agenda.

With the greatest respect to Segio, but he will be 31 come 2020 and for a striker that is the sharp end, I cannot see City not looking already for a replacement for our Greatest Goal Scorer.

As for the Stones story, before his injury he was on top of the world, but it was a bad injury and getting back into it recently meant that he was not 'match fit' and having played that couple of games he looked back to his best with England.

Negative as you say from Sky, but that is what they are about City as are BTSport because we don't have the pull of the Uniteds and Liverpools fan base ..... yet!

My neighbour's lad is 8 his dad is a Leeds fan, but the lad recognises my shirt and talks all the time about Aguero, not Rashnaldo or Lynne Gard, Lukaku, this is the new generation that will be used to hearing City and their players, if we can mantain a presence and win titles every year and our fan base will grow, but in time.

Meanwhile The English trait of knocking those on top goes on.
