Leigh Wood

Maybe next year. Might be too late though.

It was turned down on the forest side for a September date.

I will be there in October supporting leigh.

I love Carl Froch he’s from Gedling so I’ve met him a few times but he has no self awareness at all. Leigh just played straight out the Rocky/Froch playbook he was getting battered & he pulled it out the bag last minute. For Froch to say about all the mistakes he made is pot & kettle.
Mrs Woanz on occasion has done a basic version of the 4 Yorkshireman sketch but Gedling now has two world champion boxers it’s not exactly Basford where everyone is showing their little willies to each other; Basford Batz

Round six
Wood v Warrington

Warrington is just teeing off on Wood, catching him with left and right - the only response Wood has is to complain to the referee that they are landing on the back of his head.

Referee Michael Alexander isn't interested - they look clean.

Wood tries to throw a left hook but it's telegraphed and some textbook counter-punching from Warrington follows as he dips down and comes up the middle.

We're midway through this contest and unless Warrington runs out of steam then Wood is going to need a knockout.

To my left, the Nottingham-based fans are quietened and worried.

To my right, the Leeds supporters are in great voice.

Round seven

That point deduction only seems to have spurred Warrington on further.

He's straight back at it and wobbles Wood with a counter left.

Again the head of Wood rocks back as he's caught with the jab.

Wood decides to cover up on the ropes but that just invites Warrington to start unloading.

Warrington is down! What a shot from Wood! Where did that come form?

(Lol look how out of the blue that fight ended for BBC Sport)

'I've got game changers'
Wood beats Warrington by stoppage

Leigh Wood speaking to DAZN after knocking out Josh Warrington: "It's got to be up there. I've been a legitimate two-time world champion. Josh is very tough, hit me with some very good shots. Josh is a very good fighter, thanks to all of the fans who came out tonight.

"All I can say is I've got game changers.

On his gameplan: "I knew the further fight went on, the sloppier he gets. I didn't stick to the game plan well, I got disorientated after getting hit in the back of my head."

Next fight at the City Ground?: "I need a little break. We'll wait until the end of the football season and we know what's next don't we?"

"Maybe we can run it back, it was a great fight."

Eddie Hearn speaking to DAZN after Leigh Wood knocked out Josh Warrington: "Boxing is the toughest sport of all. Leigh's fans have come together to witness a thriller of a fight. I had Josh well ahead. I said to Tony Bellew that I thought Leigh was done. This man is incredible. It shows that if you stick at it then anything is possible. For years, he's been on at me about a fight at the City Ground.

"He's done at featherweight, that was his last fight. Look at his last fights, it's an incredible run."
