Leicester v Swansea, Saturday 11 April 15:00

Next up it’s another tough away match against The Foxes of Leicester City.

The reverse fixture last October resulted in a disappointing 1-3 home defeat for the Swans with Marti Cifuentes the Leicester manager at the time. They sacked him at the end of January after just six months in charge. Gary Rowett took over the reins in mid February until the end of the season. At the end of February they were deducted six points for breaching PSR rules.

They currently sit third from bottom and are in real danger of going down for the second successive season. They have won only one match in the last nine games since Rowett took charge, with six draws and two defeats.

However our record against Leicester is pretty dire at the King Power Stadium with seven defeats and a draw from eight games since Leicester moved there from Filbert Street in 2002.

Time to change that, no better opportunity than now.

Rode our luck at times but another brave defensive display.
Leicester hit the post, we had a penalty turned down.
The Foxes 18 shots to 9, 5 shots to 1 on target, 12 corners to 2.
They are deep in trouble now, second from bottom, three points adrift from Oxford who are third from bottom and four points adrift from fourth from bottom Portsmouth who have a game in hand and won away at Middlesbrough today.
For us a great result and sixth away win from twenty one away games.

Brilliant result and goal from us yesterday, nice to see Eom enjoying some form and makes you think he could be utilised as a 10 in a different system.

Performance not so good. I would have liked to have seen us on the ball a bit more and that counts for in general under Matos too. I’m choosing to believe that he’s playing the hand he’s been dealt. It’s not that I want us to be playing full on Russell Martin football but some emphasis on keeping the ball would be nice to see. Fingers crossed with some new recruits we can do it.

Full credit to Vitor though, we were well in trouble when he came in and considering he’d only managed for 12 games, he’s exceeded all expectation.
 
Superb goal @sit_down_jack but yes it wasn't a great performance at all and I'll admit I was quite bored by it. I'm not a fan of us lacking possession, not that I want us passing around the backline with 70% of the ball but at least for us to try to dominate it and take control. Leicester were really awful and we never looked like adding a 2nd.

Vitor got us out of the shit and I'm so grateful for him for resurrecting our awful start under Sheehan but on the other hand I'm still very cautious about next season under him.

100%, the club wanted Hellberg so they obviously think a possession based style is the way to go. Hopefully that becomes our focus next season. Matos did say in his post match that we needed more spells with the ball so he’s aware of it.

I think we do lack a certain amount of technical quality without Galbraith in midfield so I can see why we don’t play keep ball.

I get the caution, we don’t want a repeat of what has happened this season.
