Leave the FA Cup alone.

The FA's proposal to scrap replays in the FA Cup would certainly ease some fixture congestion, but rob us of some wonderful footballing moments. The minnows against the giants have provided some golden matches.

Scrap the Capital Cup instead.

I like the idea of playing it midweek, apart from our involvement these FA Cup weekends are as dire as the international break IMO.

I like how the pl clubs are getting the blame for this.

League one and two clubs play the stiffs now.

Typical it's a money thing nothing else don't kid yourselves.
Fuk off and leave the FA cup alone makes my blood boil greedy fuckers

I'm not sure anyone is proposing anything at the moment; it was agreed at last week's PL Chairman get together to look at the whole congestion issues because of the stress our scheduling puts on our clubs in Europe...as well as our national team(s). Part of that is to also look at stopping media owners rights over match moving...

The only agreed action was to look at the feasibility of a post-xmas 'break' and how the fixtures could be better organised to assist clubs - one of the reasons is that we're in real danger of losing our 4th place spot in the CL to Italy - who of course bend over backwards to help their clubs in Europe, as do Spain's and Germany's.

Part of the discussion was also about increasing squad sizes to 30 and removing the 'law' about putting out your 'best' team in the FA cups (which is a nonsense anyway)...

So suspect at this moment in time, it's much ado about not a lot as it will take them forever to review this and make recommendations..

I'm all for (with caveats) a mid-season break and having a better more flexible approach to schedules.

Some good ideas in there.

So this FA Cup weekend starts off with a right thriller, Scum reserves v Hull reserves.
Marvelous.

The biggest bore and threat to the game at the moment is the power of the media to move the games as they feel... one of the reasons (maybe the biggest) is the flawed thinking that the players come to play in this country for reasons other than money. I would have thought that the likes of citeh with their collection of players would have won the CL a few times by now - let alone this being their first season in CL post Christmas... I think the clubs and the FA in particular have sold their souls...

Said it before - the simple answer is an 18 team top flight.

Removes 4 fixtures right away which can be taken from the Xmas and new year games whist keeping the Boxing Day games which everyone loves.
