KPW "a lot of room for improvement

Finally KWP gets a chance and delivers 3 assists in 45 minutes. Either Poch has got it just right in his timing balancing physicality with first team familiarity or KWP had it in him months ago and has been held back .
 
It's interesting that none of them excel in all areas , Serge is possibly the closest to the ideal if his delivery was better and decision making. I don't see Tripps improving much now, he may have peaks and dips in form though . KWP obviously is more of a clean slate and could end up the best of the bunch.

I really like KWP but did you lads see Bissaka play Same the other day. He looks like he could match or better the lad at Liverpool.
 
I like KWP a lot as well. I like his instincts. KWP and Serge should be our future wing backs.

Can KWP play on the left?

BL - The kid is doing great and I am very happy to see him playing this well....especially since it is a weak position for us.

Now can we get a young up and comer to stabilize our DM position?

Did we also hold KWP back when he started against Barca a few weeks ago? I found it odd that we left him as the last man from our corner, which they broke away from and scored. He got himself into a tangle isolated on the left side of the pitch, he looked more at home yesterday playing down the right.

In a way, yes. Throwing him in at the deep end and as a last resort was very risky. Poch only played him because the other two couldn't. Not exactly showing prior belief and trust in him. Poch is now bigging him up saying he knew he had the quality.....SO WHY NOT PLAY HIM BEFORE ?
 
IMO questioning Mauricio Pochettino's squad management at this point in the season when we are in 2nd place with a fixture list in our favour is splitting hairs. Yes, we could be better.

But this is really fun. And that is what sport is about.
 
Lots of fun indeed on so many levels. Seeing players coming into form, lots of goals, youngsters pushing their way into the side, looking down at our rivals, getting so much media attention etc.

But analysing the squad and manager without having heads in the clouds and throwing a fluffy blanket over our success has its place IMO .

Yes. But one thing I've learned is that MP has a plan and it's typically well thought out. For instance getting Moura up to full game fitness by playing him for 90 minutes against Bournemouth. My guess is that is to plan for Son's absence.

I agree generally speaking Poch gets it right.

he's played on the left for England youth teams but in pre season and the odd game he's played there for us he looks far less comfortable than his matches on the right have been.

I like his composure when picking a pass. Yes Bournemouth made it easy by leaving our players so open but Serge, Tripps and even Walker before he left would often just try and put it into a dangerous area or whip a cross in when a well placed ball on the ground would be better.
 
Funn, I recall questioning if KWP was ready in the Arsenal thread, and was roundly shut down and told he wasn't good enuf. Wonder if Howe agrees with that assessment

lol - I guess Howe knows all about Spurs full-backs. Adam Smith and Charlie Daniels have 350 games between them for Bournemouth. Didn't mean that we made the wrong decision on them though.

I was at Wembley for the game and was impressed with his close control, passing and energy up and down. He reminded me of Ashley Cole with his ability to play 5-a-side football in tight spaces. Like Cole or Stephen Carr, he needs to make sure his other qualities outshine his lack of physical presence. He'll never have the physical attributes of someone like Kyle Walker. First time I've seen him live though and he should be chuffed to bits with his contribution. I was.

His next big challenge is proving that he's better than Trips and Aurier and then figuring out how to be better than Trent and Wan Bissaka in the England setup. Should be fun watching that unfold.
 
It's clear he's improved, but it's also certain he's got even more It's clear he's improved, but it's also certain he's got even more improvement in him.

I watched him closely, as I knew it would his overall physical strength appears to have improved 5 fold, he is now really difficult to just barge off the ball, his balance looks so much better as does his ability to make and follow through with the correct technique when tackling.

Really can't say Poch has put a foot wrong with him so far - but it is now for him to challenge the incumbents by lifting his overall game even further.
 
I do think Trippier has been allowed too many duff games this season without KWP getting a look.

You could always argue that his assists are more valuable than what our other RBs could bring defensively or pace-wise but then KWP bagged 3 in a game and killed that argument for the time being.
 
Aurier cost us 23 mil and Tripps value must have increased after the World Cup although it's probably dipped now. KWP cost us nothing.

Aurier and Tripps could be worth 50 mil the pair. If KWP surpassed them both on the pitch what happens to their price. ?
