Kompany

Wtf was that all about?

Why didn't he sit down on the pitch if he was injured?

Clichy told reporters he thinks it's tiredness.

Maybe he was dying for a crap? :098:

From City site...

There was one sour note for the Blues after Vincent Kompany went straight down the tunnel moments before the final whistle, despite an imperious return after four months since his last start.

Clichy, however, is hopeful that the signs are good for City’s skipper.

He said: “Most of the time when you come back after a long period you don’t play for more than an hour so I think he was probably just a bit tired and hopefully it will just be a matter of days.

“Vincent is Vincent. Fully fit he’s one of the best centre halves in Europe and we all know his quality. We’ve played well so far but having someone like him is a real bonus.”

If that was his intention then he has achieved the exact opposite.

Very puzzling. Possibly thoroughly hacked off at not keeping a clean sheet but to just walk off? Odd.

We await news

Hope the guy is OK, maybe a tight hammy, but a full game after 4 months is asking for trouble. Understand I am no expert, but surely a full game was a risk.

I thought so too JK. I didn't think he would be given a full game, especially not after so long out. When Diaz was about to come on I was sure VK was going to be hooked and was very surprised when he stayed on.

One thing I thought of his reaction - walking straight off - was perhaps he never thought (or it had been agreed) he was going to complete the full game and if he felt something go at such a late stage, whether he was really angry/disappointed/gutted at a change in the plan and another breakdown.

All speculation and we'll just have to wait.

Pep Guardiola:-

"The doctors are speaking with him and seeing what's up," said the Blues' boss.

"Hopefully it will not be a big problem, We're going to wait for the results from the doctors and I still don't have that or the opinion of my staff.

“It was good. It's not easy after a long, long time without playing, defensively he was so strong and he played really good.

"After they scored the goal, I asked: 'What happened?' They said that Vincent had gone to the locker room, but hopefully it will not be a big problem. We will have to wait.

“If he's injured, he's injured, he cannot stay on the pitch. As I say, I don't know what happened. The doctor is testing, looking at what's going on and after we'll see.”

He launched himself at an attempted block for Swansea's goal, and then clutched the back of his leg and thumped the ground with his fist following that.

As stated, we can all speculate about the reasoning for that action.

Not related to his injury but something I noticed last night, when Shakey Willy had the ball Kompany didn't seem to be going as far wide as Otamendi had previously, I think this restricted our options when playing out from the back.

Just a lack of match practice, but I did not expect Vinnie to do 90 minutes

**BREAKING NEWS**

Sky saying it's a groin injury, NOT his calf, so good news of sorts.
No timeframe on his return.

City skipper Vincent Kompany is receiving treatment for a groin injury sustained in Wednesday's EFL Cup win over Swansea.
The Belgian centre-back was making his first start since May 4, but left the Liberty Stadium pitch moments before full time with the problem.

No date has yet been set for his return.

The positive for Kompany and City is that the injury is not a recurrence of the calf problems that disrupted his progress last season.

The 30-year-old looked in fine form against the Swans in midweek, defending with purpose and passing through the lines with precision.

Along with inform duo John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, plus Aleks Kolarov's impressive outings at centre-back this season, a returning Kompany would give boss Pep Guardiola a tough selection headache.

We will bring you news of any update to Kompany's fitness as soon as we get it.

I dared to say on the speculation bollocks thread during the closed season , that I could see VK leaving, and that his physical frailty had ruined a fantastic career.

Sadly, I think I may be proved to have been right , reminds me , and not in a happy way of Lakey .

Very. very, sad , but at the level we are now at, it's time to say goodbye, with all our thanks, respect, and appreciation.

Not yet, Seac. Let's try and bring Bonucci in in January and keep Vince until at least the end of the season to see how he goes. Would break my heart to see him leave.

It would break my heart too, he has been a fantastic servant to the club , both on and off the field.

I have said before, I have met him a couple of times at local supermarkets , and he is exactly as you see on TV, a perfect gentleman
,a credit to himself and the club.

Vinnie will stay at our Club after his playing career is over, if he wants it. He is a local these days. I still think he will get back on the park in about a month.
