It appears the EFL have come up with another way of screwing loyal fans, however well intentioned their original idea may have been.

Lads, much to JF's future annoyance I've set this as a separate thread again.

Any thoughts please as with a few more comments, added to those made elsewhere on the larger Vital Network, I can get a secondary piece from this and it makes it look like I'm working harder :8:

'The Fans' stopped mattering to football clubs a long time ago. The guys who show up every week and travel to Stoke on a wet Wednesday aren't where the big money comes from any more.

The 4.4bn people in Asia who watch the PL on TV are 'The Fans' now.

If English football fans want to preserve their stake in the game, they need to boycott matches. Nobody wants to watch a match played in an empty stadium.

Agree with BB.

The fans just don't matter anymore.

We used to be crucial because of gate receipts, not it is the tv money that matters, they can take us for granted. However I've always warned that IF they sell this as the best league in the world with the most passionate fans - they need that vital second part. The fans.

You turn on the tv from half way around the world to see the biggest and best league in the world and see half empty stadiums, will you really buy into the hype? I doubt it.

Forget the fans, you'll lose football. Sadly, the game is run by - mostly - non football people now, they simply don't get it.

Sad fact is the people who run the game dont give a shit about fans or football. They are just like politicians, they will milk it for all its worth and grab their fourpeneth whilst they have the chance.
Cynic yes, but sadly its how the world we live in makes you.

I heard he played a good game
I heard he had some style
And so I came to see him
To watch him for a while

But then the FA butt in
ruin the game infront of my eyes
Pay for the game with my fingers
Singing for my club with my words

I feel all down and dirty
Less people in the crowd
And yet Neymar earns about a Billion pound
I prayed that we would finish,
but Hogan missed again....

Yes I am very very bored.

Get real. There's nothing new in the powers that be being out for self-interest. We sold Gerry Hitchens to Inter. Was the money re-invested? Not a penny. They tried to convert McParland into a centre-forward rather than buy a replacement. Did they care about the fans? No. The club had already been relegated but had just bounced back, a false dawn which was followed by a slow, then a fast, decline which ended in division 3, and the board finally being thrown out.

But, I think there are owners who do care. Abramovich, for a start, is obviously a fan. In fact anybody who runs a club for money is obviously on to a loser. Whether they care about the fans is a different matter but I think a lot realise that they need the fans; those that don't are probably also onto a loser.

Which it stinks is the organisations running the game. Money rules; maybe they're actually scared of turning down opportunities to boost the pot. If there's less money coming into the PL maybe they think other countries will take advantage, and trigger a decline at home. Whatever, fans aren't on the radar.

Hitchens couldnt be denied the money of a move to Italy. He was a success there but lost his England chance because Ramsey didn't pick players not home based.
Mercer bought Dougan to replace Hitchens and sold McParland because Harry Burrows of the Mercer Minors was coming through on the left wing.

The old board were decent Villa men but just out of date and incompetent.

The idiots in charge will kill the game, brilliant thinking, stuff the teams fans ... oops. Then who will watch teams in half empty [at best] stadiums, look at what has happened to Test cricket. The crap that is coming out of the people that run football from The Hood downwards is just unbelievable.

Uefa nations league, 60 minute games filled out by VAR, teams who can't even play in their own country nearly qualifying for WC 2018, bribery, corruption, effing stupid off side laws, 5 refs, too much football due to tv ... I could write a book, but they are all muppets, in fact they are dingles.

Will you please write that book - it would be a best seller
