Kieran John Trippier[1]
Date of birth 19 September 1990 (age 26)[2]
Place of birth Bury, England
Height 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m)[2]
Playing position Right back

I wonder if he could do a job at left back?

He does look smaller than that.

Still a top quality RB. 3 assists in 3 games. Reckon he would get around 20 if he played every week. Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son would score more that's for sure.

He certainly knows how to play with his head up and pick crosses. Maybe we could explore playing him in wide areas instead of Sissoko.

No brainer when you think about it !

He's proven himself in recent games to be one of our best creative outlets, certainly more effective than any other natural wide player we have.
It's a shame he doesn't have Walkers pace, but then he makes up for it in more ways by having a great delivery into dangerous areas!

We need to keep him sweet, and I think Poch is balancing the situation well arm...

Walkers pace?....all that pace does it takes to the end of the pitch so that he can do a customary pause, or use the pace to chase back because his forward run produced zilch. Lamela has a similar trait, all that defensive work that he is renowned for...all because he lost the bloody ball in the first place!. I'd have Trippier in my team any day and find myself a winger in front of him. Trippier doesn't have to pause, he doesn't have to reach the bye line as he has vision and composure to get a cross in a lot sooner. With him in the team, our AM's also anticipate a cross and ready in or around the 18 yd box. Kane almost got a diving header to one of his crosses....would've been an incredible assist.

It would be interesting to see if statistics backed up your anecdotal theory. I find my opinion of a player slants my thinking. Maybe you're correct.

His distribution from wide areas is the best in the squad - he's a bit like an Assou-Ekotto who gives a shit.

He'd play first choice for probably about 15 sides in the league so we are very blessed to have him on our books as a back up

Good observation, you're one of the few who can see it too. £30m spent for counter-productive shite, overrated, waste of money. I'd have Tripps in my team too.

80deg, seriously watch Walker carefully next time. He HAS to take the ball to the bye line from where he rarely puts in a cross, often either passing back or cutting in side. Trippier's crosses come from anywhere half halfway line upwards. Walker through his pace can't control the final ball and Trippier on the other hand has time to compose himself. We've only ever had Bale who was able to combine pace with an accurate shot (end product). Don't get me wrong, Walker's pace and physique are great attributes and he does LOOK menacing with his runs, only wished he was able to produce more with it. Most pundits and commentators have made that observation too. COYS!

I agree that Walker has over rotated on keeping the ball at all costs, instead of throwing the dice and putting the ball in. Trippier on the other hand plays a higher risk game of us losing possession as he crosses pretty much every time. I prefer Trippier's approach but that doesn't mean that don't think Walker can adapt. If I'm a LB, I would much rather play against Trippier than Walker. If I'm an opposition GK or centre half I'd probably be quite happy with Walker playing.

The most positive thing is that we have 2 fantastic players vying for one shirt who can both play in a back four or as wing-backs. They have slightly different styles but get the job done.

I guess we can rotate according to who we play. If it's against a dangerous LB play Walker etc.

I think it's more a case of team tactics as opposed to individual player or one on one selection. The collective.

Trippier did well against Watford, but let's not carried away, they were piss-poor. He's played many a game where he simply hasn't played anywhere near good enough.

I like him alot, but to me he still isn't good enough to take Walkers spot, when he starts doing it consistently and against better teams, I'll be more convinced, until them let's just see Poch rotate them as he evaluates who we're up against and what tactics/formation we're using.

RD are you building a case for cashing in on Walker ?

If we sign Zaha I would cash in on Walker instantly. Then promote KWP if he is ready. If not sign another RWB who is good enough and is happy to be second fiddle to Trippier.
