Vital Football Legend
18th birthday today.

Here's hoping a work permit will be materialising in the very near future and he can return to our squad.

So is this one of the main reasons why we were so comfortable to trim down to 3 strikers from end of August?

Now that he's 18....does anyone know if the people at the club genuinely believe he's eligible and/or good enough to get into our match day squads?

I can't see it myself, and another loan beckons, but would be great to have a fearless 18 year old striker on the bench to tear things up when he got his chance!

Wouldn't it just - he certainly didn't seemed fazed by his surroundings in the tour games. Be really nice to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

LOL. That really did make me laugh out loud.

They need only to look at their last messiah, Januzaj...........he was the last 'Next Best Thing'......and has been shipped out to Germany on loan.

Very early days for either young man but FFS, the contrast in tweets says it all.

How much did Martial cost, playing at home, against a very poor Liverpool side that got zero calls?

Welcome to the score sheet, Iheanacho. Here's to many more.

Having made his senior Manchester City bow in the game against Watford ahead of the international break, youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has said he's definitely......

I notice that he's only coming for contract talks...

Iheanacho quits Eagles for Man City

Victorious UAE U-17 World Cup, Golden Eaglets revelation, Kelechi Iheanacho, has left the Super Eagles camp for a trip to England for contract talks with EPL side Manchester City.

Head Coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi was quoted by team’s spokesman Ben Alaiya, as saying that he had to sanction the departure of the player after his father, James Iheanacho, personally put a call to him on Monday afternoon requesting the release of his son for the trip to England.

“Initially a young man came declaring that he was the agent of Iheanacho, but I declined to deal with him until I hear from the family because the boy is still a minor.

It was soon after my rejection that I got a call from his father who told me that they have gotten travelling visa to the United Kingdom and that I should oblige him with his son’s release. I did and told the young man to go and do the nation proud at whichever club he finally chooses to settle down with”.

Keshi acknowledged that Iheanacho is a talented player but also cautioned that the player should be handled gently and professionally as he navigates his professional career. The national team also cancelled its second training session for Monday after it appeared that the close to three hours morning training session may have taken its toll on the players. “We have to be cautious not to push the players too hard so that nobody will break down”, Keshi said.

The Eagles presently in camp for the CHAN 2014 tournament will on Wednesday play its second practice match against Niger Tornadoes of Minna at the Mainbowl of the Abuja National Stadium. Its first game against Prison FC of Abuja, ended 4-1 at the weekend.

Another game has also been scheduled for Saturday in a bid to toughen the side for the CHAN tourney. Keshi said it would have been great to play an African country before the start of the tournament but noted that time factor may not permit that.

The main problem here would be a work permit for the lad and he may have to go out on loan until he has sufficient international caps before being granted such a permit or am I missing something?

Work permit issues could well be a problem, although if he does get called up for the world cup and becomes a full international then the problems recede significantly and we have ourselves a player talented enough to make his international team at 18 years old!

My dodgy stream went down just before he came on yesterday, so didn't see how he played. Apart from the goal, did he play well?
Hope Manuel will give him more game time on the back of this, if he played well

Not sure he had more than two touches of the ball Citizhun. I'm sure he'll start against Sunderland, that will give us a proper idea of where he's at.
