Keith Lemon

Keith Lemon is a just one of Leigh Francis's characters.
Bo Selecta wasn't Keith Lemon (although he was in a couple of episodes)
Unfortunately because Keith Lemon became popular (even though very annoying), Leigh now has him as his main character.

Obviously it doesn't suddenly make the character funny, but the guy who plays him isn't anything like him, thank god.

True about Bo Selecta not being under the name Keith Lemon but even so I'm not sure how you can say Leigh Francis is nothing like his characters. In fact I don't think Leigh Francis even knows himself who he is anymore, the man is facing an identity crisis, every time I've seen his face on TV it's been as the Keith Lemon character.

Also I'd add you've got to be a bit of a dickhead to create these types of characters and find it funny in the first place surely.

Leigh Francis is just an actor though, so it's not an identity crisis. I doubt other actors who are famous for one character walk around confused as to who they are on a daily basis. Personally, I think Lemon has been done to death now, but it obviously must bring in viewers otherwise he'd have stopped doing him.

Bo Selecta stopped because the ratings dropped. It wouldn't have been under the name Keith Lemon because Keith Lemon is a fictional character.

It's rather annoying seeing the name Keith Lemon plastered everywhere, I honestly thought it would've been done by now, but hey ho.

Great rant Bromley. Totally agree. Infantile and not even using irony. A waste of oxygen and other natural resources.

Romesh = quality. Great delivery, amusing/funny and in his new series also makes some serious and thought provoking comments.

Btw, did anyone see "Who is America". I thought I couldn't be even more amazed at how morons could be elected following Trump but the NRA supporting elected Republicans who took part in promoting gun use by 4 year olds? WTF!

Another +1 for Romesh from me, currently watching his "Misadventures with..." programme which is in turns very funny, informative and genuinely moving as he works his way through Haiti, Ethiopia and Albania.

Got to say Jim Jefferies is my all-time favourite comedian, just edging out the legendary Bill Hicks. I've been a fan of Jim ever since seeing him as a relative unknown playing late night shows at the Comedy Store in Manchester. The US gun control segment of his set...wow.

The Keith Lemon character is wearing a bit thin but I often find that those who dislike Keith Lemon actually think Al Murray really is a bigoted pub landlord character in real life. You go to one of his shows and a big chunk of the audience believe that and are blissfully unaware that he's taking the piss.

Bring back Bo Selecta!

I don't think he is funny at all, but other people do so I don't see what the problem is? I don't find it difficult to avoid his programmes.

Agree regarding both "Lemon" and Romesh. Lemon gets on my nerves whereas I find Romesh very funny and clever (in fact, cleverly funny).
Another who's humour just seems to tickle my funny bone at the moment is Greg Davies. If you ever get a chance to see his "Firing cheese balls at a dog" stand up show, have a look. It's hillairious.

The difference between Leigh Francis and all the other character comics like Al Murray, Sacha Baron Cohen, Warren Mitchell et al, is that Leigh Francis only ever appears on TV in character whereas the rest do pop up on the likes of The Graham Norton show as themselves.

The fact that all his characters from Avid Merrion to Keith Lemon tends to be slightly sleazy and creepy makes me think that they are just an extension of his own personality and he is using the characters to act out his own fantasies. It would really not surprise me if in the future women come forth accusing him of inappropriate behaviour.

Because he is plastered everywhere, like a bad smell you can't escape from popping up on talk shows as well.

The kind of stuff Keith Lemon does to try and get a few laughs is irritating to the extreme just read the dialogue he used to introduce himself turning up randomly at Vinnie Jones' house with a film crew...

I find both Romesh Ranganathan and Keith lemon funny on their own way. I think there's room on the shelf for both of them basically. And many other comedians too. Of course Keith lemons not exactly high brow to say the least, but it's not to say he's not amusing in his own right (imo). I can also appreciate 'low brow' humour, I guess many others have to have somewhat intellectual humour but I can appreciate both.

I don't however have any time for the likes of Sarah Millican or Jo Brand. Absolutely hate them both. There's only so many fat jokes you can listen to, and unfortunately that is what all their humour seems to be most of the time.

What about Doug Stanhope, Herr? Have you listened to him at all?

Anyone else find this bloke amazingly annoying or is just me? Apparently he's 45 years old but constantly doing jokes a 10 year old would struggle to laugh at. I admit very occasionally he has done a few funny sketches that have made me laugh but overall comes across as a total tit. I can't believe "Celebrity Juice" is still going where he gives people like Joey Essex airtime for being thick and finds it hilarious, it's boring. This lemon was obsessed with Craig David at one point for some strange reason so much so that Craig David had to leave the country for years because of his stupid mocking "Bo Selecta" character, what an absolute nause.

It's my own fault for tuning into his show last night with nothing much else on and I lasted all of 2 minutes before switching over to Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares, much more entertaining. Nearly all of Keith Lemon's jokes are about sex, I feel sorry for his wife, what a freak.

Anyway good morning chaps, glad I got that off my chest.

So how di Gordon got on? did he manage to turn it around in the end despite it looking like he was going to walk away at one stage as the tension mounted?
