Personally I think it's pointless even discussing squads whilst we still have the same leadership and ownership. Nothing will change. But to answer your post I would say keep:
Krul, Aarons, Hanley, Dowell, Raschica, Tzolis (want to see how he performs in lesser league with a consistent run), Lungi, PLM, Pukki, Dimi, Idah, Omabamidele, Springett, Rowe, Get Onel back, Mumba.

Get shot of everyone else and rebuild. But as I say, pointless exercise until ownership is gone and new leadership brought in. I would like to keep DS though. Like him or not he does have a proven record in building teams up - He was brave enough to come here and give it a go despite not being able to sign a single player and has been working with someone else squad built for a specific way of play which isn't his own. No blame on his door for me. No one on the planet would have got anything out of this group.

My thoughts: (K - Keep ------ S/L/R - Sell/Loan/Release)

So Smith said no massive changes in summer (doesn't season start earlier due to world cup)?

So going by what Smith says it might be mostly same dross but with Aarons, Cantwell, rupp, loans gone

I agree (in principle) and being realistic, with all of that Bears. Life has now a different approach when looking at the Championship. My worry is that these same players have not been unit happy and DS will need a coaching set up with new players added that rivals other Championship sides.

There are plenty of players who will not be strong enough for the championship and I fear there will be that issue of 'we are too good for this league' that we had when we went down with AN.

Anyone else think it would have been better with DF at the helm for our championship season? Lots of villa fans say that Smith will do well but from what I've seen so far the guy looks clueless and a yes man for the board. As posted about what the MOTD guys said - no id, no threat, no quality and no hope.

It has felt like Smith has used this season as an experiment and like a long pre-season. Playing a 4-4-3, then 4-1-4-1, then 5-3-2, then back to the old DF style 4-2-3-1. With Villa he had a set formation (from what I can see) of 4-3-3 but he obviously had a better squad.

The fact he said 'I needed £100 million at Villa to survive' is a worry because it sounds like he only stayed up as he signed good players and not all down to his management style. At this club he'll have about 10 million to spend so is he the man to get us up......I am not sure. The first couple of signings will be telling. If we start seeing proven championship/League 1 players then maybe I'll get positive if we start signing division 3 german/french players I'll start to worry

100% agree.

DS has already said that there will not be lots of changes and it will be much the same - so that is a big red flag for me.

Sargent, Byram (as we know out for two years), Rupp, Idah, Omobamidele, Zimmermann, Rashica have all had long injuries this season and I fear that they'll not be able to play 2 games a week. Hanley has struggled with fitness in past championship campaigns and he is now older. McCallum has had big injuries this season. Melou I can't see lasting either the guy is made of twigs

I was furious when they dumped DF and replaced him with DS. While there may be debate about Farke’s ability in the prem, there is no doubt he was outstanding in the Championship.
Smith has shown himself to be incompetent in the prem and imho will show that next season.

I wanted DF out as we only won 2 games under him and he had no plan B plus his infuriating late non sensical subs always miffed me. DS is too nice imo to get a team pumped up and definitely as mentioned a ‘yes’ man which the smiffs love, im reserving judgement on DS as this is an inherited team which was deep in shit when he arrived, but things he are saying do worry me!

Same here I was fed up with DF but deep down I knew he was only one of many other issues. Would be interesting to see DF manage a team with a budget.

My worry is Smith has had such good coaching teams along side him and he doesn't have that here. He had Terry, Cutler, MacPhee, Thomas frank, pavon but the main stay of all his clubs is Richard o'kelly the guy was the mastermind behind alot of Smith's success. Much like Lambert...without culverhouse he struggles. I fear that Smith will struggle without o'kelly. As soon as he left villa Smith started to struggle.
