The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Watched The Stones live in Hyde Park the other night, blimey they've still got it! I think my favourite band of all time.

This song caused such a fuss at the time...

Feel free to add your classics, of any band... No fillers... :22:

Skeggy will be along in a few minutes, just as soon as he's sorted his Take That links out :10:

I still have no idea how to do You Tube listings properly but here are one or two songs I like from Dire Straits -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY (Sultans of Swing)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhdFe3evXpk (Brothers In Arms)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9K27HvhDxA (Private Investigations)

Same here BBJ: I have never worked out the you-tube thing either and end up putting them up like you. Has to agree on Brothers in Arms. My mind always goes back with 1 more special performance than others of Brothers In Arms to the Band Aid day in 1985-when Clapton came out and sung this with Dire Straits. Pure heaven on earth.

Will put up some links for my faves later, as on a deadline right now, to get out

Right, you should now be able to embed youtube clips following these simple instructions!

[
youtube= ]

(put both on the same line can't do it here as it will 'work' and you won't see the code but for example if in {} do {youtube=}

Then put in YouTube number eg:

[
youtube=VA770wpLX-Q]

(again, the [ and youtube need to be on the same line)

taken from (go to youtube, see video you want, press embed and cut and paste the info): <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VA770wpLX-Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

eg for Private investigations: P9K27HvhDxA

[
youtube= ]

Dire Straits, musically the best band ever. And I refuse at my age to learn how to post YouTube clips on here, thats what you youngsters are here for.

My musical tastes and those of Deano intersect. That's not a sentence I ever thought I'd write!

I've just finished 7 hours of trying to learn the company's laptop systems etc etc... and this is only the first day of 4 so embedding is totally off the map atm......

LA Woman by The Doors is well up there for me.....

Is now going to try JF 'simple' instructions. There maybe a few 'edits' on this just to warn you

Has it worked. We shall see

Nope it didn't: Followed your instructions. Will try again later]

Can I just put a vote in for a band that, to me, were musically, lyrically and promotionally perfect - not the most "credible" of artists, but to me, for 4 years between 1983 and 1987 were totally and utterly everything in my world (and to be honest, still are)

Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Between those years, only probably one band (U2) were bigger. It is debatable, as anyone who saw both would say, which were better live, as both were unbelievable, but to a teenage boy, Frankie were perfect, the mixes, the T-Shirts, the anti-war, love-sex.

Vastly under-rated, and to me, split up when they were getting better and better - the Liverpool album knocks spots off the Pleasuredome album, the problem was, Holly wanted to go pop (Wildlife and subsequent solo stuff) and the band wanted to go rock (Warriors (which if anyone is into rock, listen to the Gary Moore mix and tell me it isn't good) / Kill the Pain etc...)

If they had just talked about it instead of having an on stage fight, they would have realised they could have done both !

My favourite band ever, and always will be, and I don't care who knows it

How about the very best music that just works with the movie?
