Just A Blip? A Week Away From A Crisis? Or A Pattern?

Just a blip? I think not. I also don't think we are always just a week away from a crisis. Fans have been patient but it isn't too much to want improvement.

Dean Smith's wrong when he says Villa supporters expect Villa to win the league. What we expect to see is the sort of improvement which will give us a fighting chance of promotion, and some sort of reasonable basis for the PL if we did get promoted.

We ought minimum to be a top 6 (Championship) team, and to be that we need to compete with and on occasions beat the other competitors for that status.

This isn't pie in the sky stuff. We've got rid of the relegation dross, we believe (rightly or wrongly and I believe rightly) that we have the players to do that, at least.

Winning the league would be nice, of course, but we're realists (through bitter experience!) and maybe we're looking more at the long term for the club.

Think he's right that we have higher expectations and do think he meant (I might be wrong) we are right to expect to be winning?

I expect a big reaction next few games , JT is back in training aswell.
I think we can get 4 points out of Boro & Bristol C then kick on again .
We will need a striker in Jan and another winger

I think we need a new midfield and a new manager or at least a manager who can put together a midfield from those already at the club to pass the ball forwards to a bloke in the same kit that they are wearing, a midfield that gets forward [and back - i.e. one that doesn't include a 3some with a combined age of 96], one that isn't largely an additional backline, one that isn't bypassed by the keeper or the defence.

I wish I could say that it is just a blip, but the sad fact is I dont really believe it is. We dont seem to have it in our armoury to respond. I didnt get to see the game vs Brentford but saw the last two against them at Villa Park and this sounded the same.
Plenty of points to play for but we look like a team going through the motions already, the fight seems gone. I can only hope Terry gets back and kicks a few arses, but as a team we look so jaded, devoid of any vitallity. Maybe its the older players that we have in key positions, I dont know, but it isnt just the three points that we are behind the play offs. That is nothing at this stage and is easily made up by a decent team, but Im just not sure we have what it takes.

I dont expect to win the league , I do expect to be able to compete with brentford or bristol city or cardiff. I don't expect to continually look at the opposition and wonder why they look fitter , faster , technically and tactically better than us.

Dean Smith is right. We should be competing for this league. The fact that we aren't even in the top 6 is a big problem for the club and the fans all know it.

The fact that we haven't beat a top 6 club says it all for me. More proof on the horizon too!

This is no blip, it's a fact, we have no quality, we can't pass, some of the players have no hunger, but they'll be in the team on Saturday - definately. Bruce hasn't got the balls to play some youngsters unless absolutely necessary - (Davis).

We should be in the play-offs at the very least, but we won't be with Bruce at the helm, I'm sorry to say.

Stennyvilla talks about the Steve Bruce quotes saying we need to get the basics right

The club has been in crisis all season, it's just that scraping a few results has allowed the majority to wear the old rose tinted specs.
Not only are we in crisis now but, come the beginning of next season we are going to be hairline deep in poop, with no way out, financially.
It all comes down to extremely bad decision making on behalf of the purchasing g unit and whoever is in charge of setting wage levels.
