Early days yes but isn't it time SL made a change and replaced Parker. He's not scoring and for me has failed to impress. His passing and ball control also leave a lot to be desired.

I'd like to see List getting in and if he did Josh might be the one to be left out. Be nice to see List get at least 30 minutes on Saturday.

From what ive seen hes doing ok. I d like him to be a bit sharper when he gets a scoring opportunity, but that may come as the season goes on.

Personally I think he either plays striker or you leave him out. Playing him at the tip of the diamond is not going to get the best out of him. As it stands IMO at the moment Eaves and Hanlon look our best strike force, but Hanlon proved last night he could do a job out wide when we went to a flat four in midfield.

Parker’s not playing in his best position, but Lovell is using him in a number of positions and that is so valuable to the team and gives Lovell options to change the shape because Parker will slot in wherever required and do a job. He can be frustrating at times but we shouldn’t underestimate his contribution.

I think he is a fantastic workhorse that adds a lot to the team.
You might as well talk about dropping Holy, cos he don't score.

I do think Parker is a good player. he was excellent last season. He is surprisingly good at holding up the ball and really does link up play well when playing well. I think we really missed him last season when he didn't play towards the end (cant remember exactly when).

I don't think he's met that standard yet this season though. I thought he was poor at Wallsall and average last night. that said, my friend who's seen only a couple of gills games singled him out as a 'decent player' during the game. he must have seen something i missed. i don't think he had a poor game, but he wasn't impressive by any means IMO. I also think he may be playing slightly out of position.

I think he's going on international duty for 10 days in a week, so it gives him a time to play himself into form away from the gills and for us to try out other options and see if we miss him. List has played well the last couple of times i saw him.

He's had a call up to the Antigua squad so there'll be some change in that position I'd have thought

He’s massively inconsistent- can do some outstanding things and then the next minute a shocking miss or poor bit of play - but that’s why he’s at Gills I guess. I recall reading somewhere he hadn’t played in a long time when he first joined us, as he was aboard and their season had finished much earlier than ours and he was then without a club. Overall he’s been one of Pennock’s better signings, he does seem to score more goals
Away though - particularly headers.

He looked good in the first couple of matches and then got shifted onto the left wing to accommodate Eaves and not looked quite as effective. We haven't won since Parker was moved wide.

I thought it was interesting that List played up top when he came on and Hanlon was moved out wide. List had good pre season form and Lovell has been talking him up, i wouldnt be surprised to see a change against Coventry.

I like Parker as the point of the midfield diamond. He's not bad at holding the ball up, good at bringing other players into the game and confident enough to have a pop at goal when he gets the chance.
Yes, I'd like him to be more clinical with his finishing, and I'd like him to be a bit more consistent but this is league 1 Gillingham where the highest paid players get 50p a a packet of pork sratchings per game.

We have a squad of players who literally give their all when playing for SL. If you were there on Wednesday you would see how the crowd applauded the players despite losing 4-1. Thank goodness most Gills fans appreciate a decent return on a tiny player budget. Fans who have their pet hate players do nothing to help by getting on their backs at the first opportunity. There are even a couple of Lovell out merchants on Facebook FFS.

At the moment SL seems to have nice problems in forward areas. With Eaves scoring, Hanlon and Charles-Cook both looking lively and bringing a creative paces threat to the team, Parker doing ok and List to come back in, its a nice problem for him to fit them all in the team.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if we persist with the diamond midfield to see Eaves, Hanlon and Parker fighting for the front two places and either Charles-Cook or List being used at the tip of the diamond.

SL may need to use all his management skills to keep all our midfielders happy.

We could have , as the Captain says, Eaves, Hanlon and Parker fighting for the two front places and Parrett, Charles-Cook, Reilly, List, Bingham, Rees, Byrne and Stevenson fighting it out for the midfield places.

List of course might come on up front and Parker as attacking midfielder.

There's also Wilko of course as well. So 12 players fighting it out for the front 6 places.

That's without youngsters such as MBo, Nash, Oldaker and Chapman.

Oh dear!
3 games lost and we're looking for this years scape goat. :shake:
Nobody's looking for a scapegoat - but I am looking for a player of Parker's pedigree to produce more than he is at the moment, especially with others looking for a place in the team. He's not a novice has plenty of league experience and by his own admission is looking to take his game to another level. His passing is poor at times and he is not as consistent as he should be. If he hit the target regularly then no doubt a lot could be forgiven but he doesn't putting the pressure on Eaves.

It's what it's all about. Winning is important but not as important as the players' effort. When all the players are giving it their all it strongly suggests there is great team spirit and our best teams over the years have been those that have great team spirit. All the time Lovell can manage this, and the fans keep expectations realistic, it's going to be enjoyable.

Who are these, 'Lovell Out', mugs? They can fck off and support Chelsea. Wankers!
