In the first half he was immense but not as impressive in the second in my opinion. Does he have a general tendency to fade in games? Possibly I'm being unfair? Well done to him and Kyle. World Cup Winners medals!!!!!!
The Venezuelans were pressing for an equalizer and had the best player on the pitch when he came on in the second half, instant recognition of class and a mild panic set in whenever he was on the ball. We defended well to keep them out, with a bit of luck and Woodman in goal saved a pen & played well. Josh O, at last, showed me something on a football pitch, tidy ball retention, skills to create space for himself and a spanking shot from distance that rattled the bar.
Knew you'd agree eventually :10: :35:
He needs playing time now and he needs lots of it, week in week out and to do that he needs to be somewhere else - he's got a lot more in his locker, but he needs to improve his decision making and that can only come from almost top flight playing time.
I agree when I see the quality, this is the first time in 3 years he's shown me. :35:
Making the transition is often a bit of a lottery - you never really know if they'll kick on and re-establish themselves as a top tier player..
Anyway; it seems he has impressed more than a few of us now:
Trevor Sinclair hails Tottenham Hotspur's Josh Onomah
England's Josh Onomah and Tammy Abraham celebrate at the end of the match
The Tottenham Hotspur product stole the show for the Young Lions on Sunday.
Trevor Sinclair has told BBC Sport that he was "really impressed" with Josh Onomah in England Under-20's World Cup final win on Sunday.
The Young Lions won the competition with a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in South Korea.
Tottenham's Josh Onomah celebrates scoring their fourth goal
The 20-year-old posted a mature performance in central midfield, whereas he has often been used in a wide role for Tottenham.
And Sinclair claims that almost everything about the youngster - speed, strength, end product and passing ability - has impressed him in a big way.
"He's looked a man against boys at times. He looks so strong, so physical," he told BBC Sport.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
"His awareness and his change of direction with the ball and his passing ability, you know sometimes you're talking about getting in uncomfortable positions and players panic, but he doesn't.
"He just holds them off, he knows how strong he is and his end product has been superb. I've been really impressed with his performance."
The Spurs academy product was also hugely unlucky not to find net after watching his 30-yard effort rattle the crossbar with what might have been goal of the tournament.
It will be interesting to see how Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino manages him next season, whether he keeps him in the first team or loans him out.
