Josh Onomah Thread

Interesting, unprompted words from Steve Bruce at the pre- QPR press conference on Villa loanee Josh Onomah.

That would be a relief for me for him to go back in January. He is far too inconsistent and disappears just when you need him.

We have better young players on our books who would kill to get into the team so give them a chance Brucie?

Yes, I too wouldn't mind if he was to go back to Spuds. He hasn't been that consistent and has been a bit of a disappointment for me.

I'd send him back he's holding back O'Hare and Grealish , who both have more passion for us than he does . Jack ran 60 yards to to clear a ball from virtually off the line for us against Millwall , I don't see this effort from Onomah . Seems to have a bob on him , bit of a billy big bollocks but doesn't really give it his all does he ?

Agree with BB. Good in patches. Which i guess for a young, developing player only used to reserve football (regularly) before, that is to be expected.

I cant really see him doing anything at Spurs apart from getting splinters in his arse on the bench.
Not good enough for us most weeks so I dont really think we will miss him.
It might force Bruce into another change in the same way he fell over Davies.

Another player who the powers that be can't use properly at Villa, a recurring theme. Sure, if he goes back to Spuds he will find it hard to get in their squad. Sure, if he goes it would in theory open the door for the likes of O'Hare etc ... but will it, I doubt it. I think Villa miss a trick if he goes, but heh it won't be for the first time will it. Mr H.A.S Bruce.

I wonder what's up there. IMO, he's not good enough for the top half of the Championship and he has no chance of getting his game for Spurs so what he'd go back for, I don't know.

If he does go back in January, I can't see that it will be any loss for us. We have half a dozen players who can play his position.

He has been in an Englands U16-21s, he was part of the team who won U20's WC - England's first trophy for 50 years [and I do remember the last] .... still not good enough at Villa in the championship - excuse me ..... SB take a long hard look t yourself, him and Davis could be the deal.

It was just one of those quotes from the manager where I had to stop and think.

Totally agreed, when he's on the pitch, support him.

But thought he sort of missed the point of what a lot of Villa fans are saying.

Also good point by danvilla above, as a business I don't get how this works either, he's blocking our own assets getting a look in and training someone who doesn't look very interested up, for another club.

IF he was pulling up trees, I'd have no problem at all (apart from my issue with loans, but they are allowed so as said, that's just my issue!)

Clause or not, you take a loanee from a top club and don’t play him. Next time we go calling they’ll likely say no

I just don't get this Onomah fiasco. We all know he doesn't seem to be interested. I can't see why we should play him when we have our own talented young players doing all they can to get selected, but aren't.

If I was O'Hare, I'd be pretty pissed off looking at the spurs stroller in the squad for no decent reason......

Onomah was signed to cover Grealish for the first half of the season, now Grealish is back Onomah has been pushed back into the subs bench

I agree that he isn’t pulling up any trees and his attitude looks poor (although that could just be his playing style) but he was signed to do a job predominantly in the first half of the season, which by and large he did a decent job for us and probably better than O’Hare would have been at the time based on the fact we needed someone who was immediately able to step directly into the team as a regular starter.

Now Grealish is back, for the odd sub appearance here or there O’Hare would potentially be better due to his enthusiasm and work rate wanting to impress... but I’d always be hesitant to say a youth player “is better than what we’ve got” as it’s been said so many times before and a few cameo appearances doesn’t mean anything in the long term (hope he gets more of a chance though)
