Josh Onomah Thread

Saw the lad play a bit last year on the telly (he stuck in my mind due to his spectacularly misguided hairstyle). Anyway, he looked pretty decent. Busy, pacey and not at all out of his depth playing in the senior team.

However, if our Spurs supporting chum is to be believed and his best position is in the centre, this is a very curious move indeed. My rough estimate is that we have 10 players fighting over (at most) three CM positions. And that doesn't include players like O'Hare who should be pushing to get into the first team this season. Obviously, we are trying to bundle as many people out the door as possible, but who? Gardner is obviously for the chop, Bacuna? Even if they both go we are really overloaded in that position. Why do we always seem to go for what's available rather than what we actually need.

Aston Villa have today announced the capture of Tottenham Hotspur winger Josh Onomah on a season long loan.

He apparently doesn't see himself as a winger, rather a box to box midfielder. Pochettino seems to prefer him out wide but he starred in the U20s WC winning side in his preferred role. My point is he played in the team a lot and Jack got zero minutes. Now this could be the old bullshit Bham v London syndrome but equally it could not be. Anyway I have high hopes that he plays alongside Whelan in the engine room.

Jack wasn't in the u20 England WC squad there was no villa players in that squad Jack was in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship squad. I know there are that many england squads now its hard to follow.

The last player we had on loan from Spurs didn't turn out too bad Kyle Walker , lets hope this lad is as good

Last player from Spurs? Erm, I think you may be forgetting a certain Mr. Simon Dawkins...

...and Jermaine Jenas before him.

So, basically, we need this one to be good to have a 50% hit rate from Spurs! :21:

Have only seen the highlight clips from the Under 20 WC but, I must say I'm impressed by what I saw.
What I particularly liked, was that he didn't panic and dive into tackles but, waited for the opportunity to nick the ball with his fast feet.
When going forward and being crowded he didn't panic but, worked a way out of trouble by clever use of his body and feet.
He exhibited a fairly wide range of passing ability and what was impressive, was that he didn't over hit any passes but, delivered them with just the right amount of pace.
This lad has a big future in the game and he does seem to be a natural box-to-box type player. He did exhibit some vision in his passing when he was that bit further forward.
I just hope that when he hits the wall, as every young player does, he and whichever club he's at don't become too downhearted because, given time and support players can come through it well. This is where we, as a club, have failed miserably in the past. Thinking particularly of players like Steven Davies and maybe Frank Pimblett.

Hopefully we will have an option to buy him if helps steer us to promotion

Or as I have just said to my mate who is a spurs fan.

Going to be an awkward one for Josh as he passes you as we go up and they go down :3:
