Jose Mourinho says Rafael Benitez 'destroyed' Inter in six months

Jose Mourinho has accused Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez of "destroying the best team in Europe" when the Spaniard replaced him at Inter Milan in 2010.
The Chelsea boss spoke after Benitez's wife joked her husband was "tidying up" another Mourinho "mess" at Real.
As well as Real, Benitez also managed Chelsea - although he did not directly replace Mourinho at either club.
"The lady is a bit confused," Mourinho, 52, said after Chelsea's International Champions Cup win over Barcelona.
"Her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti.
"The only club where her husband replaced me was at Inter Milan, where in six months he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time.
"If she takes care of her husband's diet, she will not have any time to talk about me."
Benitez's wife, Montserrat Seara, appears to have re-ignited a sometimes prickly relationship between the two managers, who have won a host of domestic and European honours between them, and previously clashed when they were the managers of Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

I'm sorry but I just had to post this, Mourinho does make me smile, his jibe about Rafa diet is priceless lol!

Funny as once again Benitez is left cleaning up Mourinho's mess at yet another club.

It's a real shame seeing Mourinho begin the bile talk, even before a ball is kicked.
An asshole, at an asshole club!

Jose is right, the Fat Waiter is a boring joke.
How he's got the Madrid job I'll never know, hopefully they'll meet in the CL this season.

The fat waiter cleaning up Joses mess? Galv what the hell are you on. Look at the two's CV's, Jose wins hands down.

Yea, Benitez has only taken over from Mourinho once, at Inter, and they had just won the Champions League.

ahh yes thought so.

Mourinho left Ancelotti a team that won the champions league the following year.

Mourinho left Benitez with a team that had just won the champions league.

so what the fuck is Mrs Benitez talking about?

To be fair to Benitez, that Inter team was creaking with age when he inherited it. Still, you could hardly say Benitez has had to 'clean up Mourinho's messes'.

Mourinho has a pattern to his management. He gets into a club. He spends a fortune on players, with long term contracts.
Then leaves, resulting in the clubs stuck with players, who are a little disjointed after his tenure and ready for revolt. Including the aging spines.
He then attempts to take a few with him to the next port of call. His codswallop mouth-piece in tow.

This. Mourinho is probably the smartest operator in football management today. He burns teams out. Not players. Then he leaves.

And as for this: "If she takes care of her husband's diet, she will not have any time to talk about me."... Trampish behaviour.
Nothing to do with football.

He really shows his professionalism there, right folks!

He had a personal and unnecessary attack launched at him with no provocation and no immediate reason (as far as I can ascertain). Professionalism under these circumstances have nothing to do with it - this was an unnecessary public personal attack.

She probably knows SFA about running a club or managing a football team. In short , she should have kept her opinions to herself if she didn't want to get the type of cutting personal response that she subsequently got.

If her intention was to create such a response (for whatever bizarre reasons she or her husband think it was worthwhile doing so), then she got it and she got it in spades (the whole episode smacks of another Benitez having a rant with a note in their hand and making little or no sense and losing the plot....

How was the attack on Mourinho personal?

'Clearing up his messes' doesn't get much more personal than that, she said it in public, to the press, that's a personal dig at his integrity.

That's professional. His work messes.
If she was talking about the state he leaves his kitchen in, that would be personal.
