Jordan Pickford Goalkeeper

DEEPING IMP

Vital 1st Team Regular
First penalty he faced in the league was when on loan to Darlington and was against Mansfield in 2012 and he failed to save Matt Green’s goal.

His save before the corner that Columbia scored from was World Class, sadly no replay of that. but who cares!

Particularly as he was going one way and then had to change his momentum and dive the other way. Up there with those diving wicketkeeper one handed catches, which are generally going at around 85mph plus....significantly faster than footy strikes.

I have not seen a shot yet that shows it was actually going in. The view from behind the goal isn't conclusive and it was the faintest of touches. If it was going to hit the post, or go wide anyway, we wouldn't have conceded a corner and then a goal in normal time. That doesn't take away from it being a wonderful reach to get to it - just saying it may not have actually been a save.

I said the same last night, but no blame at all for the young keeper, he had to go for that. I am still trying to get my head around the fact we actually won a penalty shootout.

Wonderful save if you take everything into account i.e. pace and dip of the shot, the surprise factor about it, the footwork required to get back and then the change in decision as to which hand to use within a split second.

Played against us twice, I think? Away at Alfreton (won 2-0) and home to Darlington (won 5-0)?
