Jonah's Really REALLY Interesting Thread

Someone opened a British shop near where I live so I went the other day. I bought some pork scratchings and a steak and kidney pie. Most of the other things you can get in the fancy supermarkets here.

You can tell it's owned by a British person because it closes at 6pm.

Saw a little snippet last night. Jeff Bezos wealth has now grown to $211 billion. He alone could wipe out the national debt of several countries.

He's just given his staff a pay rise which is above inflation. My wife got almost a 10% increase.

Our old coalie had/has his yard down there! Always thought it was an eventual dead end, didn't realise he went that far lol
At the bottom of Robeys lane on the left is a Marina with long boats moored. The Samuel Barlow pub which does food and has got a big beer garden. Pre pandemic it was a lovely place to spend a summers afternoon.

Never actually been in that one but a few have recommended the nosh over the years.

What made you get out of it?

I worked on their specialist one-off software but they were taken over and the new firm downsized me out and I decided it was a young man's game and retrained in H&S rather than get another job in the industry.

Have you heard of the 80-20 rule? 20% of your carpet takes 80% of the wear.
The new firm's whole ethos was that rule. So they said 80% of the software sales were on 20% of the product line. So stopped selling one-off software.

Yes, I was a couple of days away from starting a NEBOSH course 10 years ago but got a good contract offer so never did it. I have a City and Guilds in health and safety, but that was pretty easy.
So good jobs in H and S these days
