On loan Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has said he's 'really enjoyed' his time at Aston Villa in the second half of this season.

He didn't mention anything about hoping to be here next season.

I guess he probably won't have a choice. Mourinho will never play him and probably doesn't even know what he looks like.

I can see it happening, United are obsessed with foreign goalkeepers and quite well blessed. The issue will be will we pay enough as Johnstone will have a few suitors I would imagine this summer and with the English uplift in fees I don't see him moving for less than 5m.

That's my point , he will head for the big money and bright lights of a Burnley or Watford instead of us . Sad times we are in.

Watford have the same foreign hangover.

Burnley have a keeper in Nick Pope in reserve who we should've signed....same as Dan Bentley at Brentford.

Our advantage is big club, decent finances...even Sunderland as a tempter have - at least for now - Pickford.

I'm not seeing another draw out there other than us capable of paying that would interest him.

He's an idiot if he goes anywhere other than as first choice goalkeeper, and I don't think he's an idiot. He'll be first choice with us. Moreover, our defence with him in it has clicked. All points in favour of him continuing his career with us. If Mourinho sees him as someone he may want long term then I can see a loan deal. Or he could sell him with a buy-back option.

I think there's a decent chance he'll stay. He seems appreciative of the coaching he's getting. He's still pretty young and I think a lot of PL teams would go for more experience.

I wasn't aware I'd said he had??? Or am I reading it wrong?

You are reading it wrong, Michael.

I was hoping that he'd say something about hoping a permanent deal could be done but he didn't.

Hope they get a decision from Man Utd/the player very very quickly one way or the other and hope the decision isn't another loan but a permanent buy.

I love it when you're so formal!
