For the second time inside 4 Welsh away days and despite Manchester City`s winning streak now stretching to 10 games, Planet Blue finds itself anxiously waiting for official injury news of one of our Belgian internationals. Whereas club captain Vincent Kompany was knacked with a couple of minutes to go in Wednesday`s League Cup win at the Liberty Stadium, the brilliant Kevin De Bruyne pulled up on the same turf with 10 minutes to go of yesterday`s Premier League encounter. No two ways about it, in the context of where our season is at right now, the loss of an effervescent De Bruyne is a significant blow.

Having featured in 9 of Pep Guardiola`s 10 consecutive victories across 3 competitions, the 25 year old KDB has been in devastating form throughout and is now widely renowned as one of the Premier League`s finest players, no doubt to the eternal chagrin of moaning Maureen at the swamp who jettisoned him out of Chelsea. Sheer power and speed of thought are just a couple of the qualities that this superb box to box midfielder extols. It is highly likely that the hamstrung Belgian is out of at least the imminent tricky trips to Glasgow and Tottenham within the next 6 days. Guardiola will be forced to cunningly shuffle his close knit pack once again as he has already done so to great effect through the recent absences of David Silva and Sergio Aguero. Let`s hope he registers similar results and his squad continue to break records during KDB's absence.

Aguero meanwhile thunders on and the astonishing statistics continue to pile up in his wake. 147 goals to the good for City, the Mighty Atom is on a run of 28 goals in 27 Premier League games. It is an amazing record worthy of the highest praise. Maybe, just maybe this season will be the one whereby the hacks and pundits finally recognise his stunning achievements that began just over 5 years ago.

The overall state of the blue nation one sixth into the 60 or so fixtures we can expect this season is so far so very good in unchartered territory. Unchartered in the fact that if another couple of wins are chalked up then all time records are set to be broken. Rest assured though, those wins will not come easily. I earmarked the Celtic and Spurs missions as pivotal going into the next international break and of course the mantra Pep will be driving into his men this week is to aim to be welcoming Everton to town in 3 weeks time unbeaten. A terrific platform has been built to realise victories this week but continuing erratic refereeing and aforementioned injury issues must also be negotiated. Celtic will be all about stifling a rabid atmosphere before anything else whereas Spurs will provide without a doubt the biggest test of our season to date.

However, this weekend belongs to Manchester City Women. Nick Cushing's side were crowned Womens Champions today for the first time in our club's history. CONGRATULATIONS!
