John Bishop

Nothing to do tonight so I thought I'd watch some TV. I have sat through 30 minutes of this bloke Bishop. How does he get away with calling himself a comedian. The stupid accent he puts on and the stupid jokes. If that is the standard of TV we're going to have over Christmas I'm glad I've got a fire stick. To think my licence fee is helping to pay for that fecking poo.
rant over.

I can't stand him. One of those whining scousers who get shitty if people say anything about Liverpool but they go on and on about how unfair it is that the south seem more successful.

There's a lot of dross on the TV these days. Mrs Brown's boys, citizen Khan, chatty man, Keith Lemon to name but a few. I suppose it's because we have 128 channels of shit to choose from as Pink Floyd would say.

Hey LRS, Bishop doesn't put on that silly accent, he was born in Liverpool and raised in Runcorn, hence the scouse accent.

Personally, I don't mind him. He does hell of a lot of work for charity too. John Bishops' Australia was a programme I watched last year which was good. There's a hell of a lot more to this guy than a comedian.

Hey certainly ain't the worst, for reasons Pride has mentioned there, he's not my cup of tea stand-up wise, but he's a an alright bloke.

I do agree however with the standard of shite on TV, and that's why I don't pay the license, they can fuck off. The only thing I watch on TV anymore is live football, and if it's not on the TV I'll stream it. I just download or Netflix everything else

Same as pride and sjh.. I don't find him funny but he seems a good guy and does his charity stuff and also looks genuinely happy at what he's doing!

The cycling in Australia programme was good.

Agree with Wurzel though, loads of dross on. I don't Keith Lemon at all, the through the keyhole he did astounds me that it was ever screened.

Good luck to them all, making a living out of a very limited talent is a talent!

I quite like him, but then I've always been the most tolerant on here.

You are indeed. Infact, I worry you might be a pinko commie subversive

Sounds like the Villa squad :59:

Re John Bishop - not my cup of tea, Peter Kay would be my north western comedian of choice.

What IS doing my head in though...every time I put BBC 1 on, Mrs f*****g Brown's Boys is on in some capacity - Tv show, 'Da' Movie (oh fuck off pleeeeease!), whatever. I HATE IT!!!!

A (very) poor man's Les Dawson - if this is where my licence fee goes, I'm going to stop paying and would be very happy to do time if it meant not having to put up with that shite (and James Corden, while we're at it).

I can put up with John Bishop to be honest.

Actually his non comedy programmes have been better , the one where he ran from Paris to London was terrific , he really suffered for doing that.

You don't like a guy but spend 30 mins watching him, then do a thread to bitch about him, have you tried turning the TV over? :81:

That just made me laugh too loud in the middle of Costa Juan.

Although I do think the guy is as funny as a night in casualty he does appear to be an OK chap. Lives about 15 mins from me in Whitegate. My wife was involved in an event for one of his charities. We have a very nice pic of her with him and Jason Manford handing over one of those huge pretend cheques.

I watch programmes then moan about them afterwards also Bishop when he first started was ok ish i thought but nowadays he just repeats things and same sh*t imo, never been a fan of him as such but he when they do that comedy stand up show if he is on with others i will watch it if i can bare the repeated stuff he comes out with

Agreed Clive. I watch programmes precisely to moan about them afterwards! I'm fairly masochistic like that, wife thinks I'm a bit odd.

Which is fair enough... :81:

I don't find many of the modern comedians funny to be honest. The 2 most popular, John Bishop and Michael McIntrye both make my skin crawl. So unfunny.

I miss the golden age of stand up comedians. Eddie Izzard, Frank Skinner and Billy Connolly.

I do quite like Milton Jones, but apart from that, I'm with you Deano - not much to get excited about.

You just have to watch Live at The Apollo, and Mock the Week to see the paucity of talent out there.
