Joey Barton...

If he can get Hanlon to score he must be a brilliant manager.

Must be brilliant if he got Hanlon to score 7 in 28 before he became manager!
8 in 29 for Hanlon now, better return than his 4 in 35 last season for gills (EFL goals)

I'm thinking it might be more like 1-2 as I believe Barton has now had two matches in charge of Brizzle. 1-2 isn't bad for a striker, just a shame he will not be able to keep that going as I cannot ever see him ever being anywhere near 44-88.

I thought Barton was a better player than some did and I feel the same way about him as a manager. I don't have to defend his entire life to say that and wouldn't try but I see more to like than condemn. He is rarely boring and has his own opinions which he is willing to defend. I don't think he pretends to be what he isn't, despite the dodgy Marseille accent. I'd guess that Barton used his background to get what he got out of football. If he hadn't won that battle and finally redeemed himself he'd likely have been dust. Good choice for Rovers.

I agree although don't think it's fair to criticise or mock him (well, maybe a litte mocking's not so bad!) about the French accent thing.

Dr Dominic Watt, a senior lecturer in language and linguistic science at University of York considered it to be sign of a sophisticated mind:

And Barton is thick skinned enough himself to just laugh it off:

Just seen his interview from yesterday’s win....spoke highly of Brandon Hanlon
