Joe Root MBE

Just seen that Jimmy bowled over 40,000 balls in test cricket with 704 wickets in 188 tests.

Got me thinking about FST's then record of 307 wickets in 67 tests off 15,179 balls.

There's a lot more test cricket played these days but, if you extrapolate Fred's record of 307 in 67 tests hed have had 861 wickets!!!- and Fred missed quite a few tests due to 'difficulties' with selectors at various times.

Yorkshire click into gear in the second test as brook gets his century and moments later Joe gets to another 50 👌👏

Well the last half hr has put a different slant on things losing 3 wickets stokes and smith going cheaply smith to the last ball before lunch will give the windies hope of a victory, stokes yet again walking off shaking his head bloke never seems to learn the amount of times he gives his wicket away is beyond stupid

Nah, he's the saviour of cricket-...............................................honest

Hopefully Joe sticks around and gets another 50 or more onto the total.

Stokes can be brilliant on his day but he does seem to suffer from a bad dose of 'f*** my luck' a lot of the time. Same can be said for 'why me?' Crawley.

It's good to see Rooty playing his normal game, it seems Bazzball, if not completely dead is now only on life support for our test team. Who'd have thunk it?

Consistency and application must be alien words to most of these once in a blue moon players.

Joe one short of 11,900 Test runs and 573 away from Cook's English record.
Currently 8th highest in the world ever with Brian Lara his next target!

Hopefully, in 10 years or so, we'll be ( if still here!!) watching Harry Brook chase the record.

Joe gets his 32nd test hundred

I saw the all time test runs list today, Joe is right up there with the batting greats and this innings has moved him up another position. I think he got plenty more runs in him not only to pass Cook but to challenge the top few. He still seems pretty fit.

Sky saying their algorithm gives him a 45% chance of passing Tendulkar.I doubt he'll do that but, hopefully he'll pass Cook easily.
With his average that means another 11 innings but it'll take longer than that I reckon.

When he 1st started I said to a mate that he'd break every record ging and he's on course ATM

Doubt he’ll pass tendulkar but he had about 5yrs start on him joe didn’t make his test debut till he was 22

The test has turned in England's favour with 5 quick wickets in 35 balls. Our JOE is a absolutely Outstanding Cricketer and if Brooksy gets anywhere near Joe's in a few years he'll do very well.Have a luvly evening Vital BLADERS.UTB

Bugger notification came up on iPad as I was writing a post on here to say we’ve won I was looking forward to watching the highlights later as I’ve watched the final round of the open golf instead great finish any of 5/6 players in with a shout until the last few holes

Don't know if this is the right place to put this but here goes.
In the last group match of T20 Blast Yorkshire played Notts who were rock bottom at Headingly. If they had won they would have qualified for the quarter finals. I noticed looking at the scores that Dawid Malan didn't play and he's been one of the best batsmen in the Blast this year for Yorkshire. Yorkshire lost. I thought he was injured or something but he played for some London based team in the blast last night. I appreciate not many of you are interested in this mickey mouse cricket but does anyone know why he didn't play because surely if we had qualified we would have had a chance of reaching finals day and subsequently getting a bit more cash in because as I understand it we're brassic. Thanks.

Malan had a 'side strain' that miraculously healed in time for last night's charade. He does have form in not being available whilst he marches off to his next franchise appointment recovering quicker than Lazarus

I watched the Yorks v Notts game, and most of the other T20's and we managed to throw 3 games away from winning positions but last Friday was an abject, pathetic performance and the whole team looked jaded, disinterested and sloppy.
Can't work out why we didn't bat 1st at Headingley, as we normally do, (we chased down 205 at Worcs in the game before) and then captain Masood compounded that error by getting a 1st ball duck.
