Blackpool are closing in on the loan signing of Rangers forward Joe Dodoo, according to Sky sources.
The Sky Bet League One side are keen to strengthen their attacking options and negotiations to bring the 22-year-old to Bloomfield Road on a season-long loan have reached an advanced stage.
Dodoo joined Rangers from then-Premier League champions Leicester in 2016 and went on to score five goals in 27 matches.

Teddy bear fans happy:grinning:

Following stories in the press that new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was set to give forgotten striker Joe Dodoo a second chance at Ibrox, news has broken this hour that he will be going out on loan to Blackpool.

In short, no, he was not getting a second chance at Ibrox, and wherever that story came from (not our sources anyway) was completely and total shash.

Rangers continue to look for striking talent, and attacking flair, with only two recognised strikers on the books – Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera.

Everyone else is either expired or otherwise departed meaning the opportunity was definitely there for Dodoo to make a mark on the team, and information claimed that’s exactly what Stevie Ger was going to do.

But now we know he is close to departing for Blackpool in League One pouring cold water of any opportunity under Gerrard, showing the information claiming he was getting that chance was absolutely wrong.

We are a little disappointed he won’t be getting a shot at the first team this season, but in Gerrard we trust and hopefully the new players coming in will be befitting of Rangers.

Songs aplenty with a name like that

Plays for Pool and he signed on loan for free
Joe Doodoo he is fast and when he scores he slides on his knees

Decent player. Bags of pace. More of a striker than a winger.

Replacement for Vassell or Frenchie? Bowyer recently recruited a new chief scout but I have also been impressed he quietly goes about his transfer work under the radar

Rangers winger Joe Dodoo is set to travel to Blackpool on Monday for a medical as he closes in on a lightning fast loan exit from Ibrox, according to Football Insider.
The reliable football news website report that the 22-year-old speed machine has been given the green light to leave temporarily by manager Steven Gerrard and that the Tangerines pounced on a swoop ahead of a handful of other clubs.
It is stated that Dodoo, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic before struggling to have an impact at the Light Blues during the second, will travel to the north west coast of England to finalise the loan deal after the weekend, as Gerrard continues to rebuild the squad.

Good move for Rangers?
Dodoo has done nothing to prove that he is ready for a first team place and it seems strange the Gers are not looking to offload him permanently.
He will only have a year left on his contract next summer and it is unlikely he will have developed enough to warrant being part of the senior setup, leaving the Light Blues with the option to sell him or face losing him on a free.
Maybe Gerrard has faith he can grow over the next 12 months, but it is a gamble which could impact the sort of money they could make if they do decide to ship him out permanently.
Still, he needs the game time and Blackpool seem very keen on taking him to Bloomfield Road.

Likely to happen?
It seems a certainty he is making the switch, and there will only be surprised faces at the fact it is not a permanent exit.
He managed just two senior outings for the club last season, and unless someone hijacks Blackpool’s bid with an eleventh hour move, he is heading to the Tangerines.

According to the Rangers end he is due to have a medical on Monday before a season long loan

Blackpool’s new loan recruit Joe Dodoo says he is hoping to bring a winning mentality to the League One club.
Striker Dodoo was one of four signings in three days by the Seasiders last week, joining on the same day as midfielder Chris Taylor.
Gary Bowyer had to wait a couple of days longer than originally anticipated to seal Dodoo’s signature on a season-long loan from Rangers.
But the striker, who is also capable of playing on either wing, finally completed his move after receiving confirmation from the Glasgow club, although the deal still requires international clearance.
While the 22-year-old has only managed 27 appearances in two seasons at Ibrox, having moved north from Leicester City, he insists there is a lot he has learned during his spell north of the border.
When asked about his time at Rangers, Dodoo said: “It has been really good.
“It’s a demanding place, where you have to win, but that’s the same for all the clubs I’ve been at.
“I’m hoping to bring the same feeling and mentality here to win things and achieve great things with the club.
“Getting the deal wrapped up early gives me the chance to play the whole season.”
The Ghana-born former England Under-18 international hopes to make 40 appearances this season and said: “Every player wants to play every game and it’s definitely important for me.
“But most importantly I want to win.
“I know the manager and the players will be feeling exactly the same, so I’m looking forward to it.”
The attacker, who still has two seasons left on his Ibrox contract, has League One experience from a short stint at Bury in 2015 and a longer loan spell at Charlton Athletic last season, when he scored twice in eight games.
Of his latest move, he added: “I’m delighted to be here. I spoke to the manager and he told me what he’s trying to achieve this season, and I like the sound of it.
“It’s a good club and I can’t wait to get started and playing.
“It’s brilliant because we can get started from pre-season to build a solid foundation towards what we’re trying to achieve this season.
“If you get to know the players and the staff early on, that makes it easier in the long run in the sense of it being a season-long loan.”
Gary Bowyer has made six new additions so far this summer, with Michael Nottingham, Harry Pritchard, John O’Sullivan and Jordan Thompson joining Dodoo and Taylor in signing on for next season.
The club is still waiting on Kelvin Mellor, Dolly Menga, Clark Robertson, Jay Spearing and Kyle Vassell to decide on their futures. Their current contracts expire at the end of the month
