JO COX MP... VERY SAD

The death of MP Jo Cox has been announced after someone attacked her outside the constituency surgery in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

Apparently she was attacked by a local man with a gun and a knife. The guy was described by his neighbours as a loner. A SICK loner as it turns out.

When are people going to start talking instead of killing?

REALLY SAD. 2 young children without a mum and a husband without a wife. 'Don't know how you deal with that.

Campaigning for the EU referendum has been suspended. The House of Commons is in complete shock. She was liked by all sides.

I just wander if it was at all linked to the whole EU Referandum saga at all.

as a former Oxfam-worker for 10yrs and then Labout MP who would naturally be very pro-Euro I assume; I just wander if the killer saw that as a reason for his actions.

but it is a very sad event indeed.... RIP Jo Cox, and may her family and friends recover soon from such a savage act of hate.

So very sad. The world gets more hateful with each passing day or seems. I hope her family get all the support they can get.

the guy was a neo-nazi sympathiser :-

''The man arrested over the killing of the MP Jo Cox bought books from a US-based neo-Nazi group, including guides on how to build homemade guns and explosives, according an anti-hate campaign group in the US.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) published receipts that appeared to show Thomas Mair bought, among other books, a manual on how to make a homemade pistol from the National Alliance.

The receipts, some of which date back to the 1990s, showed Mair spent more than $620 (£436) on literature from the group, which advocates the creation of an all-white homeland and the eradication of Jewish people.

He bought books that instructed readers on the “chemistry of powder & explosives”, “incendiaries”, and a work called Improvised Munitions Handbook. The handbook included detailed instructions on constructing a pipe pistol using parts available in DIY stores.

Receipted items also included Ich Kampfe, an illustrated handbook issued to members of the Nazi party in 1942.''

so probably couldnt stand Pro-EU supporters and this was his way to make a statement.

A picture is starring to build. I'm unsure how his family could say he was not political, if he is buying Nazi propaganda and joining white supremecist groups. Clearly you dont know what is going on begins closed doors.

Three separate witnesses have now claimed they heard shouts of Britain first.

It's completely unimportant to me of he meant the group or was shouting an ideal he had. Hate is hate.

His family have also said the only mental condition he had been diagnosed with is OCD. OCD does not make people murder people in broad day light.

The Independent were reporting that he was a "supporter of the Springbok Club, an organisation which has defended the white supremacist apartheid regime in South Africa". Just another thing to add to his lunatic CV.

Do we call this a terrorist attack?

Is it to do with the way we teach politics? I know of situations where teachers or others in places of authority teach their brand of politics and I know that people are aggressive in the way they teach it rather than simply place the arguments that they have and what they believe in in front of others to make their own minds up about it.

At some point I think this guy must have got hold of a belief that was way out of proportion, so badly radical that he didn't feel it was outrageous to take the life of someone with different views to his. I have no argument with radical, I have argument with outrageous radical, where people can purport outrage and inhuman treatment of others in pursuit of their ideals. OK he had mental illness problems it seems, probably severe frustration over something or another, maybe immigration or whatever but this is where we need politicians to get hold of the extremes overtaking our society so that people are not driven to these crazy extremes.

To think that a great politician, with not my brand of politics I have to say, was brutally ripped from her family and her society by those who can't tolerate others points of view, is simply AWFUL.

We always need to temper our beliefs, not compromise them but to hold onto them and find that proper and decent way to present them, despite the odds and if the world is not listening, then turn to peaceful practices to get our points over. I apologise if I'm preaching to the converted, as I suspect I must be but it always needs reinforcing to keep us ever vigilant that these things don't somehow creep in by a backdoor.

A sad day for our society that all decent people will find outrageous.

When far right groups such as UKIP, Britain First, French National Front...Donald Trump come out saying our country is at "Breaking Point" or "we need to take back what's ours" they need to realise that there are people out there that for whatever reason buy into this so much they will commit atrocities.

Why? Because the right wing groups and media are spreading hate. They encourage an "us vs them" society. For some that is enough to send them over the edge.

I find it odd Tel that Jo Cox's politics is not the same as yours.

What were her politics? Accepting people less fortunate than themselves, tolerance, compassion, standing up to those that wish to divide and conquer. Are these not all things the Bible teaches?

Jo Cox's politics were not the same as mine in terms of her being a socialist, I do however believe that we SHOULD look after the poor, help the needy, have compassion on those in distress and care for the sick etc, all good things that Jesus taught but there will be a 'them and us' if we believe those things and others believe the opposite, wanting to spread harm and mistrust etc.

But this thread is about a good lady being lost to society because of ill will and intolerance and lack of care to support another's free will and point of view. I love our free society that supports that. Freedom is the greatest thing. We should uphold it and guard it.

Its a shame that poor Jo Cox and her family suffered at the hands of such a person.

MP gets murdered, big deal ,try living in the safe world they've created like the rest of us, might wake a few of the shysters up.

It is the government's responsibility to protect its people. Not enough police or border control plus invite low life's into the Country . Not doing very well are they ?

My name is death to traitors, freedom for Britain. Can we stop saying he is mentally ill now and realise he is a terrorist likely nurturing his sadistic views against a backdrop of far right division, fear and hate on the part of Britain First and Nigel Farage.

You have just described a typical socialist! Are you sure you aren't confused about not being one?

The judge has asked for Mair to be assessed for mental health so no we can't stop talking about it.....yet !

and I'm sure you had the same concern for mental wellbeing when the gunman was a chap called Omar in Orlando LOL.

and I'm confused about your post above saying something about border-control and admitting low-lifes into this country... and how exactly that ties in to the murderer of Jo Cox.

If you read the posts in context Dick you will see it was concerning the society our governments have created for the man in the street to live in. As I said we should be protected not compromised by the govt. The key point does not relate to Jo Cox, she was exposed to a nutter and shouldn't have been but the damage has been done over many years.

but Nick... you deliberately chose to add your 'low-life foreigners' and 'border-controls' to this particular thread about the murder of Jo Cox by a fascist British native... therefore you have added a very personally felt link to the 2.

I don't think any democracy could have forestalled this murderous nutter from his mission, unless of course you are advocating living in a Police-State with armed enforcement of The Law on every street corner 'Judge Dredd' style.

but its interesting that this racist neo-nazi chose to murder a 'traitor to Britain' just as the climate for this referendum has taken a very ugly turn for the worse in rhetoric... which may well act as a precursor to killings of this type.

The fact is that division and wanting to "take back what is ours" is the root motivations for terrorists and hate groups - that includes ISIS, Nazi... And yes this guy who killed Jo Cox.

And the bigger point is that, even though they never intend to, people like Farage, the Murdoch owned press and Britain First lay the foundations for division and "us vs them". While it is not " kill the infidels" it encourages hate, and when someone believes in that hate so much, they think they are justified to cause whatever harm they want. There is no difference between Tommy Mair and an ISIS terrorist. They both killed to take what they thought was their, they both killed because they were full of hate driven by political ideology. And it is usually vulnerable individuals, individuals that cannot finds their place in society that are most susceptible to being influenced by terrorist and hate groups. Whether that means being abused all their life, judged by the colour of their skin or country of origin, or told via headlines in news papers that they are not good enough because of their religion.... It all had the same effect. Disillusion enough to be drawn in by hate groups.

How anyone cannot see a daily mail headline comparing Syrian refugees to rats and rapists, and then question why they might not integrate into our society how we like... Then it really is a lost cause. We are all human.
