A legend at nearby Oldham Athletic where he spent 22 years as a player (318 appearances and 56 goals) and manager. Jimmy joined City as assistant to Billy McNeil in 1983 taking over the managerial responsibilities when McNeil left the club in acrimonious circumstances in September 1986. Very sad, I was lucky enough to meet him 26OCT86, and given a guided tour of Maine Rd by him prior to the derby. Then as now I had travelled home from Oman to see the game.

True gent, RIP

Distinct Scottish flavour to the club when he joined McNeill, the first half of that first season in 1983/84 was really enjoyable.
RIP.
