Jermaine Jenas sacked by BBC

It's really not hard to just not be a creep or a prick in the workplace. I have no doubt you would have gotten by absolutely fine had today's standards been applied in your time working.
Yes I'm sure I would Pope. I began my working life in mid 60's & retired in 2010, so you can imagine the changes in working environment, & workplace behaviour that I have seen & had to navigate my way through. Like most people if necessary you do adapt to the changes. and of course generally the changes were for the better. I hope that for the most part I wasn't "a creep or a prick" but of course that's my opinion

Probably some woke bullshit.

I personally think it’s all gone too far. Any type of hate whether it be racism, misogyny etc, is clearly unacceptable. However there’s a lot of light hearted banter, where you have to think “Am I allowed to say this “ before you say it.

On some levels it might be a good thing if it forces people to think before they speak or text. However, it also takes the spontaneity out of social discourse.

It is somewhat disappointing that there isn’t the same level of control over social media. So apparently you can say what you like so long as you say it on social media.

Interesting that so far they haven’t mentioned Jermaine on the one show - AWKWARD 😬

Jermaine went through his entire live talksport show without any reference to it. Including reading the news headlines but missing his story out.

He won't be appearing on Talksport tomorrow and his agency have removed his profile from their website

Depending on whether he's still got a relationship with his wife he needs some support from his friends on hand right now

Rumours on Twitter that he is all set to star in ITVs new Comedy Drama, Jermaine is Cancelled, with a planned sequel Jermaine is divorced and taken to the cleaners.

It all sounds a bit contrived to me

I once had a head of department crying on my shoulder. They had just had a complaint of sexual harassment against them, because they had made a comment to a female member of staff on a residential trip- something about her and a "wet t-shirt competition" when she got some water on her.

I sympathised in the sense that in their head this was them "bantering". In their head, I hasten to add.

But I had to say to them that it was a monumentally creepy prick thing to say about a member of staff who was about a decade their junior at least and only just in the profession. There are very limited circumstances where the female member of staff would have felt that was banter, and they simply did not have that relationship with her. They were her boss and the comment was only ever going to be uncomfortable and inappropriate.

She was right to call it out.

I think this is an example of a comment that In your day I think a woman would have likely had to tolerate, but I'm glad they don't now. I also don't think it's remotely hard to avoid

Also imagine that's your daughter just qualified as a teacher the older guy says it too

The Sun

"Jenas was sacked after allegations were made by a female member of staff on The One Show.

She had claimed she received unsolicited communications over text."

The Mirror

"Away from work, Jenas lives with wife Ellie Penfold, their three children, and Jenas' daughter from a previous relationship, with the family residing in a gorgeous £1 million Hertfordshire mansion."
Whatever happened to a set employment procedure and some effort to give a second chance and an apology . Seems it’s straight to sacking nowadays after “allegations”. Was a full and proper procedure followed?

Based on the fact his agents have been so quick to disassociate themselves with him I'm thinking this is not going to be a good story when it comes out

And I'm sure the BBC will have legal advisers all over it with it being so high profile as this

Yes, his agency appear to be rather sensitive to the whole affair; could their sensitivity be in anyway related to one of their co founders having a penchant for giving Nigella a slap?

Jermaine has stated that m'learned friends are now involved.

Details of the offending text has been revealed on Twitter; I cant really see what all the fuss is about.

A female member of staff texted Jermaine asking what he thought of her new dress; he replied "Marks out of two, I would definitely give you one"

How can that be misinterpreted?
