Dammit, obviously no idea what he's done to get sacked and my following comment is entirely separate to any of that.

Why did they have to sack the only one with any love for Forest?

well they didn't sack hugh for what he did so it must be pretty fkin bad !

of course he might have just got someones pronoun wrong and they are now totally overreacting
 
The modern workplace must be an absolute nightmare, must be like walking on egg shells all the time in case you happen to offend someone. Really pleased to not be part of it any more I may not have lasted long if i was still involved

I think it depends what comments/jokes you're wanting to make. In my experience you can still have a laugh at work and make jokes that are a bit close to the bone so long as the context is right.

But if, for example, you want to call a male colleague a 'poof' because they're wearing a pink shirt or say to a female colleague 'While you're down there' when she's bending down because you could do that in the good old days, you'll rightly be sacked or formally warned.

200k basic approx he was on at bbc

He should know what's required with that kind of job

He's obviously crossed a line he shouldn't have even got himself close to

It's really not hard to just not be a creep or a prick in the workplace. I have no doubt you would have gotten by absolutely fine had today's standards been applied in your time working.
