Jeremy Clarkson petition

I didn't, but I might have - but first I'd prefer to see the full facts established, if they are as painted then he's guilty of doing what so many stars do with supersize ego's - forgetting the 'little' people that got and keep him there.

Wasn't Clarkson on his final warning from the BBC, after numerous racist outbursts.

Outbursts which do nothing but taint the institute of the BBC.

So I'd ask everyone, Why would you sign a petition to reinstate a racist and a bigot, to the national television service?

I'll have ago at answering your question though. He makes them laugh and in him they see an increasingly marginalized version of themselves. Aging, at odds with a world that no longer affords them status by dint of nationality, gender, race, and world view. Views which they are asked to justify, by people who would have once simply been told to live with whatever pejorative they'd just called them. I could be way off, but it's my suspicion anyway.

Probably because most people who enjoy his program, don't even bother to think any deeper than how the program presents itself - and why should they? (of course it's clear you're a noble exception...where bigotry and intolerance are considered deeply offensive).

Whatever he is, people enjoy it/his persona, or why else would they sign the petition?

Perhaps you should start an anti-Clarkson, do not bring him back petition, it might well redress the balance then...

Answers/questions and suggestions on a postcard to the campaign for cleaning up the BBC.... :17:

if I punched someone in work I'd be expected to be sacked. hence I didn't sign. as for Top Gear - it's light entertainment, not a bastion of political correctness and I have no problem with that. Steve Coogan said it best - the three of them should take a bit of a look at themselves, apologize and keep it a bit cleaner. we might all forget this ev3er happened.

besides, it's lazy relying on ukip-esque generalizations for humor, and really isn't funny at all.

I didn't but I dont care one way or the other - I am probably quite rare inasmuch as I occasionally watch Top Gear and can enjoy it but mostly I dont watch it.

I'd certainly sack the producer - if he cant organise a hot meal after a day's filming he deserves a slap.

I find the whole thing to be a great big 'so what' The BBC needs him far more than he needs them (foreign sales etc) but he doesn't need the money so I would guess he's gone as the BBC will disappear up its own arse trying to come to a ddecision

Why?

Because he provides great entertainment, That is what he is paid to do. I couldn't care less what he says outside of that.

Seems that the end has been reached and they're not renewing his contract and the other two's contracts which run out in a month are on hold as well..

Chances are Top Gear will continue, and in all likelihood without those three...so some interesting decisions to be made and an opportunity for another channel to pick up a Topgearesque show with the same lineup...

ITV or C4 will pick up the slack under a new name, which will always be known as "the real top gear" moving forward, even if BBC decide to carry it on.

However much you may dislike Clarkson, he IS Top Gear and the show is bigger than the BBC. This isn't going to be a Keys/Gray affair - which in my opinion was far more crass than Clarkson has ever done.

It's almost like the Liverpool-Suarez situation!

Honestly, I couldn't give a crap what happens to the show, or this man but I am absolutely intrigued to find out just how many people are amused by his dickheaded behaviour over the years.

It seems to me that it is lowest common denominator stuff.

If we cut everyone off that made stupid comments, had what we consider offensive opinions or just generally disagreed with this world would be a desolate place, not to mention boring.

I fear a world where every culture is absorbed, where thinking differently costs you your job or family or anything else.

We, in the West, spend so much time micromanaging everyone's thinking and language that we ignore the real problems of tolerance and and hunger.

My kids have it right, they have 2 Zack's on their ski team. They call one white Zack and the other Asian Zach to the point where even their birthday cakes have that on them during the race season. They acknowledge and celebrate their differences. As an FYI, Asian Zach's Japanese mother had his cake made with Asian Zach on it.

This fascination and drive to ignore our differences is RETARDED.
