January Window

We made enquiries about Adam Idah on loan from Norwich before his hat trick v the Nobbers yesterday.

Are things going well with the scouting? Pity they don't realise that the two keepers they have picked all season are the worst options at the club. Don't know what Mafoumbi has done wrong and Sims looks a great one for the future.

Leeds have put a £500k price tag on Lewie Coyle, who is interesting Blackpool, Fleetwood and Sunderland

The January transfer window has undergone some real change in recent years – with new rules set to affect Blackpool.

The Tangerines are eyeing a host of new recruits this window, but what rules and regulations must they be aware of?

We take a look:

When does the League One transfer window close?

The League transfer window will close at 11pm on January 31.
While previous years have often seen the window shut at earlier times, this year will see a more traditional late finish.
Can teams sign loan players after the League One transfer window closes?
No. Recent changes to loan windows mean that all temporary transfers must be completed by the close of the regular window.

Can Simon Grayson sign free agents after the League One transfer window closes?
Yes – but on certain conditions.
Another recent rule change, free agents can only be signed after the close of the window if their previous contract expired or was terminated before 11pm on January 31.
Therefore, a player released on February 1 would not be able to permanently sign for a new club until the summer window.

That’s why there is often a number of players who see their contracts paid-up in the final days of the window as they look to secure football elsewhere.

Do deal sheets come into play in the League One transfer window?
Yes, they do. A number of teams utilised this to great effect last year, and sides will be able to employ similar tactics if needed again this term.
Deal sheets can only be requested between 9pm and 11pm, and give teams extra time to get transfers over the line.
Are there any restrictions on how many players clubs can sign in the League One transfer window?

Financial Fair Play rules will affect how much teams can spend on wages, but won’t affect how many players they can bring in.
However, with loan deals likely this month, it’s worth remembering that only five loan players can be named in any matchday squad for a League One fixture.
Blackpool already boast Jak Alwnick (season-long loan from Rangers), James Husband (season-long loan from Norwich City) and Ben Heneghan (loan from Sheffield United ends January 14)
Rocky Bushiri was on a season-long loan from Norwich City but that was cut short last week but Will Grigg from Sunderland has been linked to Bloomfield Road on a short-term deal.

Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet is closing in on a move to Charlton Athletic, D3D4 Football understands.

The imposing forward has been in excellent form for the Tangerines in League One this season but, according to D3D4 sources, is close to agreeing a deal with the South London club.

Lee Bowyer is anxious to add to his side after traversing a busy period with one of the Championship’s smallest squads.

After a brilliant start to the campaign in which the Addicks went unbeaten in the first six games, last season’s League One play-off winners have only won once in their last 14 matches in the second-tier.

Lyle Taylor has rejected Charlton’s offer of a new contract, tabled by the new owners, and the club will now be listening to offers for the former AFC Wimbledon man.

Gnanduillet’s potential arrival will go some way to replacing Taylor’s goals and will add some much-needed depth to a side ravaged by injuries for much of the last few months.
The 27-year-old has hit 15 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this season for Simon Grayson’s side, the best form of his career, and has attracted a lot of attention from sides in the Championship.

It appears Charlton are close to getting their man and will be hoping the deal will be concluded in time for him to face West Brom at the weekend.

About our only effective striker this season. He is fantastic when up for a game but can also be inconsistent. He will be difficult to replace without spending some serious money.
PS - this seems to be a repeat of a rumour from a couple of months ago, so may be just agent talk.

I hope so Pete

Do we know if we have even offered Gnanduillet a new contract? If we have and he has refused then the main issue is who we are going to bring in as a replacement. I can't believe that Grayson, Mansford and the recruitment director haven't got replacements lined up as they have far more experience and contacts than the Os would ever have

Larry suggesting that Sheffield lad isn't a replacement for Tilt or Heneghan nor is he saying they are staying for sure. Days he wants competition for places

Yesterday it was reported that Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet was at the training ground ready for talks to join Charlton, but now it seems as though that deal has fallen through after Blackpool asked for £500k more on top of the original £325k that was agreed in the summer.

I know what most fans are thinking, if we are now billionaires why are we not forking out another £500k to secure the deal?

I think that Blackpool are trying to take advantage of the takeover and hoping that ESI is just going to start forking out loads of money straight away, but as the new Chairman Matt Southall said he will not be splashing the cash carelessly, plus Gnanduillet only has six months left to run on his deal and if a fee was agreed in the summer for £325k then it does seem like a bit of a robbery in terms of the price.

Southall stated that Charlton is a long term process and things will take time, however, there will be decisions made that fans won’t like, but Matt will always be there to inform the fans why he is making that choice, will this be a choice fans won’t like?

Who knows, but I trust the clubs judgement on this player.

WOULD YOU LIKE ARMAND GNANDUILLET AT CHARLTON?
YES

Armand is a slight risk seeing as this is the only season of his professional career that he has been scoring prolifically with 12 goals in 22 games so far this season, so it would be reckless to spend any more than the original price.

If we did end up giving in other clubs would see this and try to take advantage of us too, we need to hold a firm hand on the transfer proceedings to get good prices out of the teams we are buying from and this is a prime example of us not being pushovers in the transfer market.

We will see what pans out in the next couple days with this deal, it’s not completely dead in the water until Matt or Lee says it is, but with the press conference on later today hopefully we will get some answers.
