January Transfer Window

Hannes Delcroix - seems a bit of a gamble signing him. He’s been out injured from last April to November and has a history of injuries, including two knee operations.

We have the worst defence in the Championship over the last ten games with 18 goals conceded. Our best defender is suspended for the next 3 games and we bring in an injury prone replacement who is not match fit and spent most of last year out injured.

Striker Kyrell Wilson has gone on loan to Yeovil Town, who are mid-table of the Vanarama National League, a step below EFL League Two. The free scoring Academy player was expected to make the step up to the first team due to our lack of goals so this move has surprised many fans.
Also another Academy player, Scottish midfielder Liam Smith was recalled from his loan at St Johnstone and contract terminated by mutual consent (no future sell-on fee then). He has already signed for Queen of the South.

So out of nowhere comes the news that our captain Matt Grimes is on his way to fellow Championship club Coventry for relative peanuts and apparently he wants to go.

What on earth is going on at our club? A new Chairman and rich investors raised hopes amongst fans of a new dawn but this lot are worst than Kaplan and Levien, they are cutting everything to the bone with their League One salaries, dumping Championship players and putting in low bids for League One/Two players that are laughed off. Every other club in the Championship have strengthened this window, we are the only club weaker than the start of the month.

There is only one place we are ending up the way things are going.

Only recently Grimes was pledging his allegiance and saying he loves the club and the area, what’s happened since then?

With our slide down the table and us in free-fall the last thing we need is to lose our most reliable player.

Coupled with Darling ready to pack his bags, refusing to sign a new contract, the manager advertising that he wants away, it’s only doom and gloom coming out of this club every day.

Sheff Utd target Harry Darling with Bristol City also hovering.

Matt Grimes has put in a transfer request, departure imminent to Coventry once clubs agree a fee.

Swans are rumoured to have submitted a bid of about £3mill for 22 year-old attacking midfielder Melker Widell who plays for Danish Superliga side Aalborg BK.

Swans are interested in Leyton Orient midfielder 23 year-old Ethan Galbraith, whose contract expires this summer, following Orient’s signing of Azeem Abdulai.

Talking of Orient they won 6-2 at Exeter tonight to move into the League One play-offs. Abdulai, recently gifted to Orient by the Swans scored a hat-trick, you couldn’t make it up. Brandon Cooper is on loan there and played. Their captain is ex-Swan Darren Pratley, yes he’s still playing at aged 39!

Another player linked is 22 year-old Norwegian right footed right/left-winger Joel Mvuka who plays for French Ligue 2 club FC Lorient.

Melker Widell apparently about to be signed…….but ……he won’t be playing for us until next season! He goes straight back to his club Aalborg BK on loan until the end of the season there, which is 24 May, as part of the deal.

WBA centre-back Caleb Taylor has returned to Wycombe for the rest of the season. He played 20 games for them before being recalled by West Brom to cover injuries on Jan 2.
Wycombe have already signed two centre-backs this month, Anders Hagelskjaer from Norwegian club Molde and Sonny Bradley from Derby County.
Does this latest news mean we can finally sign Joe Low?

There are reports of a bid gone in from the Swans for 23 year old Peterborough defensive midfielder, Hector Kyprianou, whose contract is up this summer. Matt Grimes replacement?

Two midfielders incoming?

Lewis O’Brien on loan from Nottingham Forest.

Jacob Wright on loan from Manchester City.

Jay Fulton to Plymouth on loan?

Jacob Wright loan deal from Man City has fallen through last minute
Leyton Orient midfielder Ethan Galbraith bid turned down (we should have used Abdulai as part of a deal at the time)
