Thank you to everyone @SwansOfficialwill never forget my time there. Steve and the coaching staff were great with me throughout. Thank you to all the fans that showed me support as well. Couldn’t speak higher of the community and the club down in Swansea. Good luck
Some good news for depressed Swans fans after that result today. Stuart James of The Guardian on Twitter earlier:
Understand Rhian Brewster’s loan to Swansea from Liverpool will be confirmed tomorrow.
Clubs agreed deal over last couple of days. Liverpool wanted Brewster to be available for Everton FA Cup tie. He’ll join up with Swansea early next week. Gentle first game to ease him in
Sports journalist Melissa Reddy has confirmed that the long rumored switch for Rhian Brewster to Swansea will indeed go ahead after all the details of the terms of the loan were agreed upon today.
The Swans struck an agreement with Premier League leaders Liverpool without a fee for the 19-year-old, with only wage recovery and financial penalties if he doesn’t play factored into the equation.
The 6ft 19 year old Ivory Coast-born defender has been with the Blues since the age of seven, slowly working his way up the age categories. He mainly plays as a centre half, but can also be deployed in the right back role, having featured there during his time in schoolboy football.
With us having so many loan transfers this season, many Swans fans are asking if we are allowed to sign anymore. Here are the rules:
How many loan players can a club sign? According to the EFL's lengthy list of regulations, section 54.4 to be precise, there are no limits on the total number of loan players a club can sign.
How many loan players can play at once? This is where the limits come in, as a maximum of five loan players can be included on the 18-man teamsheet for any one match. Should a team bring in an emergency goalkeeper this is reduced to four players.
How many loan players can you sign from one club?
In order to stop the system being abused, there are also limits regarding the number of players you can sign on loan from one club.
Only four players from a single side can be brought in, of which no more than two are allowed to be over the age of 23.
On 14 January 2020, it was confirmed that Conor Gallagher had been recalled by Chelsea.
Six foot tall and 19 years old, England U-21 International Gallagher has said his "best position is as a box-to-box midfielder. I can play deeper and I can play attacking as well". He was described by Charlton manager Lee Bowyer as "an all-round midfielder, his work rate is unreal, he puts his foot in for tackles and he can also see a pass". Gallagher's idol while growing up was Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
Just what we need!
The highly sought-after Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher will sign for Swansea City on loan, following Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster and his Chelsea team-mate Marc Guehi in teaming up once more with their former England Under-17s coach Steve Cooper.
Gallagher, 19, recalled on Tuesday by Chelsea from his successful loan spell with Charlton Athletic, will sign for Swansea on Wednesday, where he will play for the Championship side managed by Cooper until the end of the season. He joins Brewster and Guehi, all three part of the England Under-17 squad whom Cooper led to their age-group World Cup victory in India in 2017.
There was interest in Gallagher from a collection of Championship clubs, including West Bromwich Albion, who have all taken notice of a player who had become a regular at Charlton this season, playing 26 games for Lee Bowyer’s side. He is an attacking midfielder who likes to get forward and has scored six goals already this season.
