January transfer window rumours, gossip and all

Pride of Lions

I am now official
Well, we're now into October and the first gossip/rumour of the January transfer window appears to be with us.

The first rumour is that we are interested on Koln's striker Jhon Cordoba - he scored a wonder goal against Arsenal in the Europa League last month apparently.

He doesn't seem to of done much else mind you. But it was in The Sun, so it must be right.... Lol

Are we not pretty well stocked for strikers?

I can't see us signing anyone in January unless there is a serious injury.

I'd suggest we seriously look at acquiring another left back in January BB.
I'd also suggest we start negotiations for a couple of centre backs and a couple of midfielders, defensive and holding primarily.
You are right though, about strikers BB, we have enough with Kodjia, Hogan and Davis and possibly RHM and young McKirdy, who I'd place in front of RHM but, that's personal choice.

Surprised to see Gabby is missing from your list of strikers 1958........how can you forget the biggest legend at the club....? :3:

It's the new philosophy. Where you have a number of players for one position you buy more; it increases the competition. Where you've only one player, you don't buy more; if necessary you just move over one of the players from the saturated positions.

This also means at the next transfer window you can generate funds by selling players from the positions you've over-stocked. Then you can buy more players for those positions.

Simple.

I have to agree with BB. If we're still up there competing and barring any serious injuries I can't see the good Dr wanting to splash out again until the summer.

It is only a rumour but it's claimed Bruce sent Tony Coton to watch Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

Full report here;

Is this a back-up plan in case Bruce can't get Johnstone signed permanently I wonder?

We couldn't spend money in the summer so I doubt we'll see much being spent in January. We may have freed up a few quid with the Amavi deal being finalised (outside the transfer window somehow?).
Would like to get this deal over the line if possible. We'd end up making money on this.

Some word Bruce will go for Shane duffy if they go down/we go up

Would be a great signing I think, hes a man mountain

Talk about Dad's Army!

It's being reported that we are in line to battle Leicester City and Tesco bags to sign Michael Carrick... he's 36!

If we don't go up there's no way we will sign Sam Johnstone.

This guy is better than any of the current keepers in the England squad.

He's good, isn't he?

Even if we go up, Utd might not want to sell him if they have been watching.

Personally, I think it would be good for the lad to cut his teeth with us. The pressure at the top clubs seems to wear keepers out very early.

Think a keeper at a top club is out of the game for long periods and keeping your concentration for 90mins when you hardly touch the ball, let alone have a save to make, is difficult for some. I was encouraged by Steer's performance in the cup games and to me he looks equally as good - got good reports when he was loaned out as well.

Johnstone would be a good addition, but I don't want to get held to ransom by Manure when we have another couple of good young keepers in the wings.

Shane Duffy is under contract until 2021 I think, so would cost a fair bit in a transfer fee.
I would prefer someone like Marc Wilson, who is two-footed and can play left back and defensive midfield as well as centre half.

The gossip says that are going to go for Mo Diame in January. I don't think I've ever seen him play.

Not many have. 30 years old, midfielder, can play number 10, has played for Bruce in the past. Seems to fit the required profile.
