One of our greatest ever players has sadly passed away. I can only imagine what it must have been like with a forward line of Lawton and Sewell.

I'm envious. They must have been amazing times. By all accounts, the decision to sell Jackie caused widespread protests amongst the fans. From what I've read, it caused a split amongst the directors who had been determined to turn us into 'the Arsenal of the north.' I believe I am right in saying that those directors who had wanted to keep our best players ended up taking their money over the river. Quite a pivotal moment in our history it would seem.
