Izale's left

Vital Reserves Team
Had his contracted terminated by mutual consent. I guess that Notts will have had to give him some kind of pay off so I wonder whether that will leave much left in the kitty before the transfer window shuts.

I'm sad to see him leave, but it didn't work out for whatever reason and I just hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

Does this pave the way for Mellors to sign now?

mutually beneficial. We can hopefully recruit and he can try for another well paid job elsewhere with no fee. Never impressed me.

He clearly has ability as he wouldn't have the goal scoring record that he has achieved in his career but it certainly didn't work out for him at Notts. When he first came, I thought that he oozed quality and would fire us well into the top half but confidence dipped, fans got on his back and he didn't have the character to bounce back. He left Crawley after trying to force their hand over a move which did concern me a bit at the time. It will be interesting to see how he gets on at his next club and whether we were just a blip in his career but, for whatever reason, he no longer appears to be the striker he was only a few years ago.

I'm guessing he's not going to get the warmest reception when they play us at Meadow Lane in the new year.

It's a real shame for Ray Trew as he did spend big but like Tony Agana and Tony Hackworth before , Notts seem to spend big on the wrong man.
His body language was really poor from his first game at Morecambe. I'm pretty sure he never wanted to come up here and after missing the penalty at Daggers , which he should never have taken, it was all downhill.
Total mercenary who never for a moment looked like he was enjoying being a footballer.
For me, his performance off the bench against Walsall pre season summed him up perfectly.
Glad he's gone , Jon Stead must have been equally unhappy at times last year but as a man he's head and shoulders above him.

Izale seems to be one of those players where you have to work around him to get the best. Glad it's finally been sorted, I think we did waste his talent to a degree but he didn't do a lot to help himself. It's obvious Sheridan didn't see him as part of his plans, so it's good that he has gone.

When you see how Sheridan has got the best out of Stead so far (I know it's still early days), you can't really fault the call he has made over his strikers. It would be interesting to know what kind of advice the likes of Alan Smith and Mike Edwards gave to the new manager about the squad he had inherited when he came in.

Agree with Optipez, you have to feel a bit sorry for Ray about this. Experienced scout identifies striker with good record at the level a snip at only a hundred grand, shells out the lolly - striker is so far sub-pants he's barely more than a clag nut. I'll get me coat :)
