It's Evatt

Wellen was impractical given he had signed a new contract start of the season, time for that would have been when Bruce was appointed. I'm optimistic about this appointment, give him a chance lads

I’m pleased with Evatt coming in. Realistically we weren’t going to get another employed manager leaving for what appears a real dire situation.

Can understand some folk not being convinced but if his interview is anything to go by I think he can turn things round quite quickly. He has a reasonable managerial track record in difficult situations.

Sure he won’t stand for any ‘can’t be arsed’ attitude that some players seem to have. I expect he will work on the poor fitness and instil some belief into the team. On paper we have a decent squad especially when the injury situation improves. They just need someone to organise them properly and get them playing to the best of their ability. Confident Evatt will do that and get us moving in the right direction.

The only way is up…..surely?

Optimism has often been followed by disappointment in recent years, therefore I remain in a state of apathy.

Absolutely. Football is all about results and when they improve along with the effort and performances, fans will get behind the team much more readily.

Evatt was part of our ‘best trip’ 15 years ago and if he can repeat some of the Holloway Magic who knows where it could take us in the next couple of years.

I think Sadler will support him and so should the fans as he gets to grips with the situation we are currently in.

Quitchley, Bruce all talked well first interview 🤣

Its the off the field stuff I have concerns about.

He'll get my support and I hope he proves me wrong but if anyone thinks he was first choice they are completely wrong.
What is of concern is that we sack our manager after identifying our no1 target, Wellens, yet we didn't get him over the line.
Same for the no2 target Matt Bloomfield.
Only reason we didn't get them was £££.

Anyway interview here

SUrely it matters none whether he was first choice or not? Who's to say if a first choice would be any better? Critchley never convinced me with his verbal diarrhoea even from day one, I am really glad it wasn't Bloomfield either Its all a matter of opinion at the end of the day, even if you did loose yer bet.

I guess we will all have differing opinions on the merit of Evatt’s appointment. However, I’m sure we will all get behind him. He was an integral part of our success in getting promoted to the PL so I think deserves the chance back as Manager given what he has achieved recently in that role.

Bruce fell on his sword because he was a dinosaur tactically with no emphasis on fitness. I can’t see that happening with Evatt.

I’m looking forward optimistically to how he turns things round as I still believe we have a decent squad who will ultimately deliver.

Of course it’s the hope that kills you!

Not worried about my bet, deep pockets, more worried about what Evatt brings off the pitch.
Simple google lists his area of concerns.

Well sex, we can't always get what we want, fact of life. 4 and a half years at Bolton is good for any manager these days. So without pointing the finger, I am not bothered how many skeletons folk have in their cupboards, it just tells me they're at least, adventurous. Its what he does with us now that matters to me. Lets see what time brings

Like I said he'll get my support and I hope it all doesn't end in tears.
In all honesty Im gobsmacked Sadler has taken the risk.on him.
Appointed Bruce solely to raise the profile of the club, for one reason only, to try and aid his sale of the club.
Being a mid table, and currently bottom of the table, in the third division won't see him getting his wonga back.
Onwards + Upwards

Let's hope he gets into Fletcher first and
A) Shows him how to use his head
B) How to use his size to put himself about a bit and make sure the opposition knows he's there. The opposition certainly knew when Evatt was playing!

And

C) Show him where the bloody goal is!

Putting all the posts on this thread into the mixing pot a clear risk /reward picture emerges. It is good that even the doubters are willing to give him support. I pray it works out.

Glad you said it first Sexy - otherwise I'd have been condemned as a D&G'er.....
Ha Ha Ha. You a D&G yet again. Don't worry Bob, I think I have become a D&G over the last 6 weeks. You are not alone. There a lot more of us on this site that fit the D&G persona but may be adverse to putting it in writing like us bastards. :halo:
