Is Turkey being gobbled up ?

This so called Coup was pretty pathetic wasn't it ?

Turkey is in turmoil. President Erdogan is imposing Islam on Turkey. He is sacking, arresting , sensoring anyone who is against him.

It has been suggested he carried out the Coup. It was too badly planned, badly timed and poorly executed. Did he stage it so as to give an opportunity to dispose of his detractors. ?

Either way he is a nutter who seems to be following Hitler's model. When asked what political system he preferred, he answered Hitler's had some merits or words to that effect.

If it was a genuine Coup it was desperate, it has been reported all the personal were going to be arrested anyway. Convenient the president was away from the govt buildings.

He wants to bring the death penalty back, I wonder why ?

Thousands more opponents sacked, 24 media licences revoked. Education staff sacked . The man is a nutter. An Islamic Hitler . There are serious concerns from Nato on what's going on.

An Islamic Hitler, Angela Merkel was negotiating a deal with him to allow movement in exchange for taking Syrian refugees.

Another Islamic carnage ground coming up.

The 'bigger picture' comes into play here...............Merkel/the EU want Turkey on-side as, despite Turkey being a loathsome regime, it's vital that Turkey joins the EU to fulfill the EU's plan to surround/isolate/dominate Russia (the EU's overtures towards Ukraine was part of this plan). If the EU don't give in to whatever Turkey demands the EU is frightened that that it'll be drawn towards Russia which would seriously damage the plan. Turkey is already a member of NATO (which is an indication of its strategic status) but the EU want more. This is why I'm glad we're out of the EU.............they are playing a very dangerous game in prodding that Russian Bear with this insane march eastwards into the Balkans and Turkey.

I think many are being naive, Islam is forcing out many of its peoples in the various nations whether by Isis, Al Qaeda or bad rule in their countries, making them fed up with the treatment they get under the various forms of Islam that fight within themselves over, I 'm not sure what. I would have thought that their religion would have united them but instead makes them fight like crazy with each other. The result of them leaving their own lands and making it to Europe is to drive them into mainly Christian countries and possibly this is an attempt to spread the Islamic message.

As a Christian I'm not making a religious argument with this but it does seem that there is an overall strategy by ISIS to spread Muslims all around the world by unsettling them and driving them out of their own lands. Having been treated like that by members of its own faith, I would be looking for a new faith and I wouldn't blame people for looking elsewhere. But I feel we DO need to close our borders firmly because along with immigrants come ISIS supporters hiding among them and while I feel sorry for the refugees, we can't take thousands of immigrants, we're a small island with limited resources in terms of housing and handouts.

Its also unfair to the rest of Europe and while stupid Merkel unrealistically held her arms out to everyone, now that she's changed her mind, they are being forced on all the other countries with disastrous results for France in Nice etc as we've seen. Get Trump over to build a wall ASAP. He has the right idea, at least until things have been sorted out.

the idea that EU wants Turkey to join is laughable.... as is the concern that it would align with Russia (it shot down a Russian jet last year in case youve forgotten)..

EU has to dangle the carrot of EU accession for Turkey now and again, in order to get the Turks to play nice re. refugee question..... it would take ALL 27/28 members of EU to agree to Turkey joining, which is NEVER going to happen... especially if it becomes more conservative under the current regime..

we will keep Turkey sweet with a few concessions here and there ... but they will have to control the refugees coming to Europe, if they want help.

Turkey's economy has and will continue to dive with each passing moment of this Erdogan regime, which will give the EU more leverage in dealing with them, now and in future.

At the end of last month Putin and Erdogun had talks after which Putin lifted all Russian sanctions against Turkey (imposed after the jet you mentioned was shot down) and Putin said ''It's time to begin the process of normalising relations by lifting sanctions............. and restoring the traditional friendly ties between Russia and Turkey''

I only mention it in case you've forgotten.

what traditional friendly ties ??... theyve just gone back to a cordial relationship befitting of neighbours wanting to keep the peace.

Turkey is still in NATO, in case youve forgotten.

and Turkey regressing into a dictatorship and thus ever further away from EU sphere of influence suits the Russians very well geo-politically.

In my original post which prompted your response I acknowledged that Turkey is currently a member of NATO. There's nothing for me to forget.

He has extended the length of time he can detain without charge . I think he has closed all private schools. Is a mass exodus of Turks on the cards ?

Not likely. As of now he has massive overwhelming support for his actions - although a Friend who is a lecturer there is now (was) telling me that it's turning into a nasty witch hunt; she was ordered back from Holiday to University to be 'questioned' - that was last week, I've not managed to have any contact with her or her son since, apart from 'we can't talk now, everyone and everything is being watched'.

It will calm down in due course; The threat of being kicked out of Nato may well be enough to stop mass executions - which is what his party are calling for..

if the mass executions take place, we should really consider suspending them from next year's Eurovision Song Contest, at the very least.

Given they haven't participated in the last two; I suspect that such a sanction would be just too much for them to bear...and he'll instantly desist. :10:

respek for even knowing they missed the last 2 AND being simultaneously heterosexual (I presume).

as the ad says ''evey little helps'..

Hitler outlawed and removed any political opposition in Germany to pave the way for his plan. He achieved this under a state of emergency allowing him to force through undemocratic policies. Anyone showing opposition was removed from their post.

Erdogan is known to admire Hitler's system.

A Coup would give him the opportunity to impose a state of emergency.

First the removal of Evolution from school curriculum and now the third year in a row of banning the gay pride march in Istanbul. Rubber bullets fired to disperse the crowd.
