Sad to hear today of the sudden passing of Graham Taylor, former England coach.
A colourful character in some ways, I'm sure Aston Villa fans will be sad over the news.
An awful shock for his family, our condolences to them.

From the BBC website, this report hit the news today,

"Former England manager Graham Taylor has died at the age of 72.

As a club manager, he led Watford from the Fourth Division to runners-up in the old First Division in six seasons and to the final of the 1984 FA Cup.

He guided Aston Villa to second in the First Division, returning to Watford and Villa after his England stint as well as managing Wolves.

He became England boss in 1990 but resigned in 1993 after the team failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup.

Following his spell with England, Taylor returned to club management and also became a renowned pundit for BBC Sport.

A family statement said: "With the greatest sadness, we have to announce that Graham passed away at his home early this morning of a suspected heart attack.

"The family are devastated by this sudden and totally unexpected loss."

Taylor was a defender for Grimsby and Lincoln City before becoming a manager when he took over the latter in 1972.

He also had two spells at both Watford and Aston Villa - leading both to the runners-up spots in the old First Division - as well as having a stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Taylor was appointed England manager in 1990 and spent just over three years at the helm of the national team.

RIP

Apologies 'Tino', I didn't see this thread and I've opened one under 'Open Terrace', "IS THIS NOT BAD NEWS?" Graham Taylor RIP. Maybe the two need merging?

The treatment he received at the hands of the Sun Newspaper was nothing short of disgraceful.
