Is Pep The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread?

As we enter the busy Christmas fixture period and with a string of indifferent results behind us how many Blues actually think Pep Guardiola is the best thing since sliced bread?

When we go back to a flat-back four we seem to return to winning ways and yet when Pep mucks about with a back three City end up at sixes and sevens.

Current playing squad

Our defensive line-up, at times look tired, confused and dare I say it, aging (no breaking news with those words I suspect). Having said that Chelsea play with three in defence and look at them – numerous clean sheets, top of the Premier League table and seven points clear of us.
The answer has to be within our current playing squad and their inability to cope with Pep’s demands. I mean we all know he loves three in front of his keeper and it worked for Mr G when he was at Barcelona and Bayern Munich – didn’t it?

Positive Pep

When I look at our previous 17 PL games I have to admit it’s not all doom and gloom. We are dominating just about every single match we play and with a little sprinkle of ‘lady luck’ I have no doubt it would be City sat snuggly at the top rather than those London lot.

Pep made it clear from the first moment he took over from Manuel Pellegrini - he knew he was about to inherit a squad which was aging and that it would take a couple of seasons until he managed to acquire the players HE wanted. We know he brought in a shed-full of newbies in the summer, albeit a couple went straight away on loan, he disposed of others and now we wait to see what Pep and his magical wand can do, if anything during the pending January transfer window.

No one is perfect but in your opinion is Pep Guardiola the best thing since sliced bread?

From what I can recall T, Pep didn't use three at the back at Barca, Alves and Maxwell/Abidal played as overlapping full backs in a four man back line, I stand to be corrected on that.

I didn't see as much of his Bayern side as I did his Barca side but from what I understand he alternated between 4 and 3 at the back depending on opposition.

Oh and sliced bread is overrated.

I prefer a whole loaf cut into my own preferred size rather than sliced, just in case anyone was wondering.

What ever he is he is his own man and nothing will alter his belief in himself
The Red tops and pundits(red bottoms) are doing all they can to prove him wrong and
Push him out, that is my main concern
It has been typical City, the squad are mostly too old to play to his plan
Joe Hart was a mistake on his part IMHO

Henry Winter's take on what he calls the "English schadenfreude that Pep Guardiola's struggling at the minute".

Nice to see him breaking with some of the pack who always want people to fall flat on their faces

I'm thinking it's more about the European run this year than the Premier league.
He is preparing for the future with older players on the way out and the young n the way in.
I am an eternal optimist of course. :008:

No doubt Pep is his own man and he is demanding of his players and stands no nonsense from agents either. Whether he will be given time to build and blend an all conquering squad is a matter of debate and conjecture. Personally I still like Mancini who currently is out of work I think. My opinion of Pep is wait and see, yes I am on the fence, but if he goes I think we might lose the CEO, and our director of football as well in one sweep, then Paddy might step up. All in all I think we can make the top 4 this season and provided we beat the Stretfords at home I will be satisfied with this season. My priorities are beat the Stretfords, or at least don't lose, win the league, win the FA Cup and if possible win the European Cup as a bonus. The milk Cup I don't care about much. So to answer the question, best thing since sliced bread, I would say no, but I like a whole loaf so I can cut my own nice and thick, toasted, with lashings of butter and honey, yum. :099:
