international friendly

I don't watch England (i have wasted far too many hours doing that) and the headlines "we beat the world champions" doesn't make me believe for one moment we will ever win anything as the foreign teams are far better than us, for me all it does is **ck up your weekend.

I just think Friendlies are just what it says on the tin, half your team cries off with injuries and you get the fringe players and a change of six players half way through, so a win in a friendly is meaningless and should be banned and a proper competition put in place

more chance of injury in a 'proper' competition, and we've got quite enough of those already thanks :006:

TBF, I did watch the game, and England for once, played rather well.

The absence of the useless lump of lard who plays as a striker for a club just outside Manchester was very telling. It's about time England managers started picking players based on form rather than reputation, and it was telling how much better they looked without the fat-arsed useless thug leading the line and doing bugger all.

Delli Alli is certainly a player to watch

Obviously I'm not all that fussed about whether England wins or not but I did have a look at the game to see how the young blokes went. Vardy must have been over the moon when that little heeler went in.
When the 'real' stuff begins it will probably be a different story.
Friendlies are to my mind, a waste time and put players at risk for zilch!
No wonder clubs have 'injuries' prior to and after selections.

I agree Ozi, Vardy is brimming with confidence, a cheeky heel that ends up in the goal, they just cannot do anything wrong.

Just watched the extended highlights and I must say England played better without that useless lump of lard who plays for a team just outside Manchester.

Funnily enough JK that team just outside Manchester look a much more potent attacking force without the useless lump of lard too.

England just been stitched up with an outrageous decision by the referee.

As blatant a shove in the back on Jagielka not given in the led up to Holland's second goal :013:

If that challenge had been made by the defender on the attacker inside the box like that it would have been a penalty. Dreadful.

Still, might keep everyone's feet on the ground

I see Milner slagged off Sergio, saying Sturridge was the better trainer, have to say JM that Sergio does it where it counts, while sicknote leaves it on the training ground. DS games 220 - goals 85 SA 481 - 250.

NB. Friendlies only count when you win.

Not so sure he was slagging Aguero off Buzz. Here's the quotes taken from the England press conference prior to the game. I'd love to know what the questions were.

“When you’ve been out for such a long time, I think the one thing you probably see is how quickly it takes someone to get back up to speed,” Milner said.

“It might take weeks, it might takes months. For him, it seems to take a warm-up and then he’s straight out there, chopping right and left, beating players. His touch is there and his ability in front of goal.

“There’s absolutely no change at all. As he’s older and the experiences he’s gone through with the injuries, it has probably made him mentally stronger and a bit more hungry.”

Sturridge’s desire has in the past been questioned by some, but Milner seemingly extinguished such accusations.

“He’s probably a better trainer than Aguero,” he said of his former Manchester City team-mate.

“How Sergio does that sometimes I don’t know. On a Thursday and Friday he’s trotting about and then turns it on at the weekend.

“But Studge is sharp in training, he can go both ways and score goals. Now obviously he just wants to stay fit, get as many games under his belt and keep scoring goals.

“He’s similar (to Sergio). We’re lucky to have him in the squad. Those sorts of players – there’s not too many of them about, who can create something out of nothing.”

It would be interesting to know the question - was he asked to directly how Sturidge compares to Sergio or 'other strikers you have played with'?

Seems odd to bring Sergio into it without his name being dropped in thereby the journo. Not sure he needed to answer it the way he did - just because someone throws you a ball, you don't have to catch it.

I am beginning to think JM does actually have a bit of a chip on his shoulder about City. This seems like another bit of 'leakage' to me.
