Interesting but strange......

I read a piece online from a sports journalist student this morning.

His basic line was that selling Vydra would free up space in the squad. He then also went on to say we are about to sign Wilson, Jozefzoon and re-sign Shotton.

I asked him how selling 1 and bringing in 3 to an already bloated squad would "free up space".

The official line is that we are reducing the wage bill, so unless the three incoming are under the £10,000 per week we will be getting rid of a Golden boot winner for three unproven, or journey men and saving nowt!

Which is, I agree, something of a strange decision (if true) but it does raise a substantial chunk of capital and create an FFP profit which can help things if we need to.

The other thing about Vydra is that he does not seem to be a proven consistent goalscorer from one year to the next. 12 months ago many considered him a busted flush and would be happy to get his wages off payroll for a capital loss. Now he is the great white hope. the truth probably lies somewhere in between, but Id be very surprised to see him repeat as golden boot winner with us - very surprised and very happy!
