New season (contract-wise)... new thread...
Sounds like we have at least one Salford City player on the RUFC "transfer radar".
Rumours about Rob Scott leaving seem to have been wrong.

True, Mike. I had (have) a few worries about Ossama Ashley. Last season he was out for a long period with an ankle injury. But players do get injured. The season before he was Salford's Player of the Season. I may have done him an injustice referring to him as a DFM. I've watched some video and he plays through the MF. He seems full of running, presses very well, tackles hard and looks a quality MF at this level. Could be an exciting signing.

Peter O'Rourke says we turned down a bid of £500K for Nombe from MKD. Good. That imo is nowhere near a decent value. Needs to be tripled at least. Also I spotted a suggestion online in the early hours that the Ossama Ashley move is off but this morning I can't find the link. :slap:

Paul Davies mentioned it must
Be in his article about Alex Bruce.UTM

I saw on another forum a poster saying £700K for Nombe would be 'good business' for a L2 club. I don't agree one bit. We're not talking about a player who has only played at L2. Nombe has done well in L1 and according to the Tizer Warne at Derby considered him one of the most dangerous forwards he came up against. Well for me Warne at MKD can pay a proper price. I'd rather keep Nombe than let him go for less than £1m. I think there are other clubs who would sell Nombe for £2m plus - we just don't seem to do this very well. My gut feeling is he'll go for an 'undisclosed fee' well shy of £1m. Hopeless.

When he goes and wherever he goes it's nailed on it will be undisclosed as always lol 😆 😂 🤣

Everyone always seems set against the club when we buy or sell a player and the fee is undisclosed. Fact is the decision to keep a fee undisclosed can be requested by the selling club, the buying club, or the player or players agent. It is not always the Millers who ask this. As for why it's asked for...that's another matter

'Undisclosed' transfer fees are widespread nowadays and often for good financial and strategic reasons. I never criticise RUFC for adopting this practice. I do however criticise the club for not being very good at maximising sale values. This remains a matter of opinion and as each transaction is 'unique' there's no benchmark to judge. But having looked at transfers in and out at RUFC over many years I can think of several instances of us overpaying and not really a single instance when I thought 'Wow! We've sold him for more than I expected.'

Quite agree with you and my point about people being against the club wasn't aimed at your post. But on other sites I have seen alot of fans suggesting the undisclosed fee is some sort of plot by the club to cover things up. Whereas as I said it's not always the Millers making that decision.
