A judge in the US state of Tennessee is offering to reduce jail sentences for any inmate that volunteers to undergo a birth control procedure.
Since Judge Sam Benningfield signed the legal order in May, 32 women and 38 men have volunteered in exchange for 30 days shaved off their sentence.

I'm actually torn by this.
On one hand it's almost brilliant, but on the other it seems it's applied across the board so likely taken up as a way to reduce a sentence by 30 days with no actual real understanding or rhyme and reason behind the decision taken.
So there's not actually the forethought to achieve bellends not procreating OR importantly allowing those potential parents who certainly should not raise a child from becoming a parent.
It's not permanent admittedly but if the aim is to encourage personal responsibility surely this should be being offered alongside an education programme or something like that to really help people turn their lives around.
