Chris Maxwell and Shayne Lavery are stepping up their recoveries from injury, though aren’t set to return until after the international break, Neil Critchley has confirmed.

The pair have been out of action with a quadricep tear and hamstring injury, respectively, which were both sustained in the victory at home to Blackburn Rovers in early October.

Set to miss out on this week’s games against Stoke City and QPR, they will hopefully be back in action after the looming period without a fixture.

“Maxi and Shayne have been doing a little bit. They’ve been back on the grass and doing some light work. Maxi has done a little bit of handling work with Banksy and Shayne has done a little bit of running,” Critchley explained.

“They’re getting closer, but I wouldn’t think they will appear before the end of this week and the international break. I think we’ll looking more like after the international break with those two.”

One player who could still feature before then, however, is midfielder Kevin Stewart, who is edging closer to being available for selection again.

“We’re still hopeful that he could be involved against Stoke on Wednesday or QPR on Saturday. He’s further advanced than Maxi and Shayne,” Critchley added.
